Title: HuCard problem....
Post by: kungfukid on January 28, 2007, 06:58:22 AM
Any suggestions if a HuCard that looks immaculate just won't even load at all? (Jap system, Jap card). I've never had a problem with one before and it's not the system coz everything else loads perfectly...

Do you get a frozen screen (i.e. a color, like a light blue?). Or do you get a black screen?

Anyway, I would try the old NES shenanigans: there is a small bit of leeway you have when inserting the HuCard... try a little to left, or right, all the way forward, and inserted just enough so you can slide the switch over.

I know it's a fraction of a milimeter, but you'll be surprised :).

What game is it? Are you sure it's japanese? Several U.S. HuCards look like japanese ones.

What kind of system (specific model) are you using?

Yeah, it's definately japanese, it's the hit the ice card I got (complete), and I'm 100% certain it's the japanese version. It's on a PCE Duo, and yeah, the screen isn't black - it's like light actually, but nothing else, just a light screen! It's the only game that does it, or has ever done it on my machine.

If your getting a light/white screen check the contacts on the HuCARD are clean. I had that happen with a pratically new looking SFII'CE HuCARD, even though the contacts looked clean their was still a layer of something that came off.

It's worked fine ever since. :)

I've noticed that the solid color screens that the PCE/Turbo give are random and mean nothing except that it can't see a game.

I would try this:  Put the game in the slot, turn it on.  Nothing?  OK turn it of and ever-so-slightly move the card in the slot either backwards and/or left or right, maybe even just pull the right corner (or left) out just a bit so the card is slightly "crooked".  Don't pull it out so far that the power switch can't be turned on.  Anyway try it again.  Keep readjusting and trying.  I have to do this with a couple of my cards when cleaning won't help.

Ok, that's great! I'll try all that and let you know how I get on!  :)

It's possible someone bent your hucard once upon a time.  Those warnings about not bending hucards are serious!

I bought a game once that does this (Spin Pair). However, it's a Japanese region game and my system is a US Turbo. The game was virtually brand new when I got it. I think the previous owner said he played it only once. So the difference in my case is that there is a converter between the game and the system. Since the game is basically new, it is not dirty. To this day, I have never been able to get it to work. Always just gives me a white screen. I was wondering if there were any Japanese games that won't work with a converter. I have around 40 other Japanese games that work 100% all of the time with my Kisado.
