Did Keith Courage in Alpha Zones ever come in a carboard box like all TG-16 hu-card games, or did it just come in the plastic case as a pack-in title?

I'm pretty sure it only had the plastic case.
-
It had a plastic jew-hole case as well as an instruction manual (with crude drawings instead of pictures) as well as a Keith Courage comic which had the same cover as the manual, but in fewer colors.
-
thanks guys
-
No problem. Another thing to mention that Keith Courage is the only (?) American Turbo Chip game to have a case without a plastic band that holds the card in place. We discussed this before and I am sure that Keith Courage is the only game with a case like that.
-
Keith Courage was the only Turbochip to come in a special oversized cardboard box and included the TurboGrafx-16 pack-in.

True! Same thing goes with Altered Beast with it's Sega Genesis pack-in. ;)
-
No, I'm pretty sure altered beast eventually came separately...

Thats just one more rare variant for nerdy collectors. Like the super deluxe Ninja Spirit boxed set.
-
They'd have to be EXTREMELY nerdy to want that version of Altered Beast, since the one that came with the Genesis had the full box, manual, et al. It's not like nowadays when the included game comes in a wimpy cardboard box *cough* Wii Sports *cough*.

You know what else pisses me off about pack-ins nowadays? They don't give you two controllers with the system anymore! With new consoles costing so much these days you'd think they'd throw in some extra stuff. The Turbo Duo was pretty expensive when it first came out (how much again? $300?), but at least it included multiple games (and some damn good ones too).

Yeah, but you're also talking about the best pack-in of all time.
I forgot that i made a Wii Sports cover a while back, if anyone wants to use it-

My plan is to buy a cheap kids dvd with a white case and swap the cover for Wii Sports. That is, once I finally get around to buying some more ink...
-
Yeah I was planning on making a similar Wii Sports case myself, but I want to find a white DVD case so everything matches. I wonder if Wii Play will be in the same cardboard case as Wii Sports?

Thanks, but I actually only worked up to 'good enough'.
I know this is sacrilege, but I still haven't even tried this game and refuse to do so until I get a proper case for it.

Although you can find white cases around, I was just going to buy one of the kids dvds that Walmart has for $6. I could probably swap the contents back into a black case and trade it in at a local game store for a couple bucks next time I'm there.

PM sent :).

Nice Wii Sports cover, Black_Tiger. Did you write the description too?

Yeah, if by write you mean type out. I think its pretty much whats listed on the cardboard sleeve. :P

I have created tons of Genesis, 32X and SMS slip cases and even one for the Sega CD Back-Up RAM Cart which came in an odd-sized paper box. I also have my Sonic & Knuckles in a real box now as well... with proper insert. I usually do all of my work at 400dpi, though. It's fun!
I am thinking that my uncle has a lot of those Disney-DVD white boxes that he wouldn't mind swapping out since he has kids. Not sure if they have their heart set on those boxes remaining white or not. I'll ask!

Thats a good idea. If I ever piece back together a decent boxed Genesis collection with those awful cardboard boxes, I think I'll do the same thing. I hate all these deluxe sets for Xbox360 that don't include a real case for the actual game. After getting worked over with Oblivion and GoW, I think I'm just going to buy unlimited editions of new games from now on.
-
I know what you mean. At Christmas I asked for the Limited Edition of Castlevania Fruit of the Loom or whatever it's called for the DS (I can't keep track of all of the subtitles) and I was worried that it wouldn't come with a real box. Fortunately for me it did. I specifically asked for the Unlimited Edition of Gears of War because I knew that didn't come with the real box, and I didn't want the crappy box plus some other nonsense that I didn't care about.
-
Those boxes are awful, I hate how every game now has to have a "special edition", its bullshit. I bet the non-special editions of most games are going to hold their value better in the long run since you can't fit those damn SE boxes in most DVD racks.
-
The GoW tin is similar to the Akira dvd tin, which was equally useless. I wound up selling the LE Akira and later buying the regular version just so I could easily access the damn disc.
-
That Akira tin case is so annoying.
-
I've never seen these LE Akira things you speak of. Is it literally a tin with a lid and the disc just flops around inside? How lame!
-
Hey Black_Tiger, I noticed a couple of things that may delay you from playing Wii Sports:
-You gave it a Teen rating when it is actually E for Everyone. Maybe yours has nudity?
-Open any real Wii game case. It has the Wii logo inside. You can't have a proper box if it doesn't have the Wii logo. And if you don't have a proper box, you cannot play.
-A proper box wouldn't have "Superpcenginegrafx" over the bar code. It'd be over the Wii logo instead.
-
Thats a good idea. If I ever piece back together a decent boxed Genesis collection with those awful cardboard boxes, I think I'll do the same thing.
To preserve cardboard boxes, I have laminated them. Of course, there is only one game in my library that is special enough to warrant this treatment: Black Hole Assault for Sega-CD. Now, no matter how many times I try to rip up the box or stomp it under my feet, it will emerge unscathed.
For those of you who are predisposed to crimes of passion, I recommend lamination therapy.

Pretty good cover Black_Tiger. If anybody wants an authentic case to slide it into, head over to Nintendo's online store and pick one up for $1.50. Here's another cover option for anybody interested: http://www.cdcovers.cc/view/257006/front/wiisports-vol-1-dvd.

I looked at Nintendo's online store and could not find Wii cases anywhere. I would also be surprised if it were only $1.50 since they charge $2 for the precautions manual that nobody reads and other such things.

Black_Tiger: I sent out the package this morning :).

Well, they don't make it easy. You have to drill down:
Online store -> Wii -> Parts & accessories -> Wii Game Disc Case(s) (http://store.nintendo.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10001&storeId=10001&langId=-1¤cy=USD&ignoreCrumbs=N&crumb1=&crumb1Ignore=&crumb2=%253CA%2BHREF%253D%2522javascript%253APassOn%2528%2527X%2527%252C%2B%2527ChooseView%2527%252C%2527%2527%252C%2B%2527%2527%2529%253B%2522%253EWii%253C%252FA%253E&crumb2Ignore=&crumb3=%253CA%2BHREF%253D%2522javascript%253APassOn%2528%2527C%2527%252C%2B%2527CategoryDisplay%2527%252C%252762707%2527%252C%2B%2527N%2527%2529%253B%2522%253EParts%2B%2526%2BAccessories%253C%252FA%253E&crumb3Ignore=&translateFrom=%C8%C9%C7&translateTo=EEC&usrSearchText=&searchText=&selSrchType=&page=&view=&productId=116705&categoryId=62707&lastAction=ProductDisplay&orderTotal=null)
No price is listed until you drill down to the bottom, though. :)
And I don't know how much they charge for s/h, but at least they ship to Canada :)
-
Nintendo's prices: 1 case for $1.50 ($1.50 CDN), 5 cases for $6.99 ($8.99 CDN), or 10 cases for $12.99 ($15.99 CDN). Shipping is $2.00 ($3.00 CDN) for orders up to $5.00 and $5.00 ($7.00 CDN) for orders above. Kinda steep just to keep everything color coordinated, but to each his own.
