2036 is my all-time favorite shooter, and a big reason for that is the amazing soundtrack. Many of the tunes can be heard in the original SDF Macross show, but not all of them.
I'm not really into anime aside from Robotech and its Japanese counterparts, so I've never seen any of the other Macross movies/series. I was wondering if anyone here could tell me if the extra music in 2036 is from another Macross production, and if so, which one. I'm particularly interested in the origin of the track that plays during the second stage (the level with the asteroids). DYRL is the prime suspect.

It doesn't appear to be on the DYRL soundtrack, but I swear that it was familiar when I first played the game, like I'd heard it before. If it's an original track they did a damn good job at capturing the Macross feel.

Yeah, my thoughts exactly. Heck, before I watched SDF Macross, I'd thought of a number of scenes it would augment perfectly (since I'd already seen Robotech's Macross Saga a million times).

Hmm got a mp3 of it?

Yeah, an MP3 would help. I haven't played 2036 is ages, but I remember the music being from DYRL. If this track isn't original to the game, then it would almost have to be from DYRL or the TV show. The only other Macross anime at the time was Macross II, and the music, as well as everything else about that show, didn't really make the grade. Macross II's music probably wouldn't have fit well in 2036, which is very much a DYRL-esque creation.

Just say no to the Zentraedi, culture, and the stupid ass MinMay attack. You should be glad you stuck to the games. They ruined the series.
