Title: How long have you had your current email address?
Post by: guyjin on April 16, 2007, 03:44:35 PM: Scary Thought: As of the end of this year, I will have had my current primary email address for 10 years. I know this, because I got my current email account when Microsoft acquired Hotmail, and I abandoned my hotmail account for another webmail provider.

How about you? How long have you had your email address, and why?

Post by: esteban on April 16, 2007, 03:57:20 PM: I put 9 years, but then I read your post. I had hotmail long before MS acquired it. So I don't know how old my email is. Not that I use it much nowadays, though.

Guyjin that's awesome that you have been using yours for ten years! I had the internet back in 1996, but I haven't been able to keep my first email address (kkjj23@aol.com).

The website turned into a business and I transitioned from my first e-mail address which was @aol.com to my current one. I love it because it has webmail so I can check it anywhere and I don't have to rely my ISP's crappy e-mail. And if I switch ISPs, the e-mail stays the same.

One from 2001. (Mailcity)
One from 2004. (Gmail)
One from 2005. (Hotmail)

I get some spam for my hotmail account.
I get TONS of spam for my gmail account.
I get NO spam for my Mailcity account.

Should be the other way around, right? :P

Post by: termis on April 17, 2007, 06:59:53 AM: 7 years - an alumni email from my university (@alumni.usc.edu), which all it does just forwards to another email address. Works great, as I actually switched my actual "forwarded to" e-mail four times since (@netzero->@yahoo->@cashette->@gmail), but no one ever noticed that I did, since it's transparent to them.

Befor that i had, Earthlink wich was my former isp for many years befor i'd switch to cable.

Post by: Dark Fact on April 19, 2007, 01:52:43 PM: I've had my hotmail address since high school. I barely use it anymore and the only reason why it is still up is because I need it as an MSN passport for MSN chat.

Nowadays, I use a webmail address given to me by my local cable modem and TV provider. It's not too bad save for the long delays in sending an actual e-mail message.
