Title: American to Japanese Hucard converter?
Post by: Zaggart on October 08, 2003, 11:26:00 PM
Hi all!

With my continuing Duo audio problems (it fades in and out constantly) and new issues, such as games locking up, I decided to get a new machine.  I picked up a PC Engine Duo R, but forgot about it not being able to play American Hucards. (I know, my bad (http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/ohwell.gif)  )  I only have one American Hucard though, but it is my favorite - Air Zonk.  Is there such thing as a converter that will let me play my American Hucard on a Japanese Duo?  If so, where might I go about finding something like that?

Thanks for any help!

Such a beast does not exist. Even if it did exist, American HuCards can detect the fact that they are on a Japanese PC Engine and will refuse to run. (http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/eyes.gif)

You might want to pick up a turboexpress for your hucard playin' needs.
Title: pin 29 mod

You can use the US to Japanese converters on a Japanese system IF you mod the chip by grounding pin 29 on the Japanese deck.  Then you defeat the region lockout.
