Title: Your Age
Post by: FM-77 on May 02, 2007, 01:37:12 AM
Just wondering what the average age might be around here. I hope I am not offending anybody by asking this.

Beginning from 13 since that's the lowest allowed age for registering on a message board. I chose to input individual numbers rather than groups to get more specific results.

The big 3-0

I would've guessed most people who are into the PC-E/TG-16 to be in their mid 20s to early 30's - Looks like I'm mostly right.

I like how there's a sudden cutoff after 34, then nothing till 50+.

Does that mean we have to stop playing the PCEngine when we turn 35, and can't touch it again until we're 50?

std.dev   - 6.3

24, I figured you guys would be my age and older, because we are the only ones who remember when games didnt suck ass and "Polygons" were not the sign of a great game.  And remember when we were kids and they had toy guns that looked like real uzzis and stuff?  Now look at what kids have, flourescent green and pink guns, I tell you its a generation of wimps forming.

yes, those or the real uzis. it's difficult to say, but some kids grow up with flourescent toys and others with the real stuff. sad anyway.

All about polygons? Nobody talks of polygons anymore. People did that in 1995. A horrible gaming era. The time of great games is just getting started.

This millenia isn't so bad.  We have TG-16 forums!!  In 1992 there were only mythical 'bulletin boards.'  You were pimp with your 14.4 modem.  Cell phones were for Neurologist and Coke Dealers, and all the cool kids had pagers.

What the f*ck was email in 1992?!?!  But oh, back in 92, I could throw a football a quater mile.  How much you want to bet I could throw stevek or nat a football from here??

Back in 1992 or so, i think i was using the 33mhz 386, or it could have been the 486 DX4 100mhz which i acquired sometime around DOOM or DOOM 2's release..

I sported a 2800 baud modem for a while, then moved to either a 14K or 28k modem sometime with the 486. Not to mention that kick-ass 4X CD-Rom.
Title: Re: Your Age
Post by: nat on May 27, 2007, 04:28:31 PM
Believe it or not, I actually had an Internet e-mail address in 1992. It was ridiculously long. I remember often times the messages I would be sending were shorter than the address itself:

nat.hall@bytewarrior.altcit.eskimo.com

That was before the WWW, but I spent a lot of time on UseNet forums and Gopher. Gopher was the shit before the WWW hit the scene.

I ran a dial-up electronic BBS ("Bulletin Board") service in the mid-90's, too.

But oh, back in 92, I could throw a football a quater mile.  How much you want to bet I could throw stevek or nat a football from here??

I couldn't throw a football particularly well, but they'd always handoff or pass to me because I could outrun everyone and score a touchdown. I set the Track & Field school records that year for 50 and 75 yard dash. You know, that was 15 years ago, now that I'm thinking about it I should go back and see if anyone's broken them. I wonder if they would even release that information to me or if I'd get an escort off the school property.

To make things even more weird, I actually first started posting on this forum when I was like 14 or 15 under the name Luta Gemma.  I need to find that other user that posted briefly here who was younger than me!

It was my lame Napolean Dynamite quote adaptation.  Yeah, I skipped my ten year reunion and the 15 is right around the corner.  I had a really good time in Highschool, but have no desire to go to any reunions.  I remember things and people the way they were in my life at that time and don't want that to change.  I've kept in touch with a few good friends throughout the years and that's all I need.  I still want to see if my passed balls in a single inning or PIM's in game/season records still stand though...

Ive been out of High School for 6 years, and I already cant remember most of the people I went to high school with, with a few exceptions like my ex-girlfriends and buddies I used to drink with, but other than that, going to my high school reunion would be weird.  I dont think most of the people that I used to hang out with would go to the reunion anyway.  I think im entering some kind of "Mid 20's crisis" if I think about high school reunions LOL.

I actually dated a girl in high school that thought the same thing, and she was hot.  GOD LOVE HER.  Somewhere, her and her penchant for love in the pooper and her incredible mental instability is making some man happy and insensed all at the same time...

As far as my experience in high school, You get what you give in high school, period.

OK, so you're not a robot.  At least if you are, your logic circuits are scrambled.

[ul][li]Cordial cherry chocolates[/li][li]Lindt Lindor chocolates[/li][/ul]

Dude, I got a box of those Cordial cherry chocolates for Christmas from my landlord. The box is on top of my fridge and there's still like one left. I've been eating them at the approximate pace of 1 per month since then. Preservatives, baby!

As for those Lindt Lindor balls, I get those every year, too. I always find them in the oddest places. They're really good, but you can only handle so many. I think my cats get hold of them and assume they are some kind of toy.

Yeah, I could pay for a lapdance but I'm not a working man at the moment.  I'll probably just go blow it on some more anime and game time at my local internet cafe. :)

You don't go to strip clubs to get yourself all horned up, you go there to have a drink and just bullshit with your buddies.

Wait... That's just like a regular bar...  :-k
