Title: Sad...
Post by: Kitsunexus on May 04, 2007, 02:19:36 PM

Today Mom got a call that Dad got hurt in work. He's a mechanic for the company that makes Coke bottles. He was under some machines when a large parts bin pinned his upper body into a wall.

We went to the hospital and he's awake and talking, no broken ribs thankfully, but he has contusions on his lungs, and may or may not develop internal bleeding.

What makes me saddest is that this year I was a total a$$hole to him, if he lives this is my chance to make things right. If he doesn't I'm going to feel like more of an ass than I am.

Ick... I need happy thoughts.

Sucks. At least hospitals are cool. I'm sure he'll be fine soon.

Be nice to your old man when he recovers. Dads rule. I really should visit my dad more often, I feel really bad when I think about how I never go see him.

Mark Twain said it best (and I paraphrase):

"When I was 16, my father was the most ignorant person I knew.  When I turned 23, I was amazed at how much he had learned in 7 years."

My dad and I weren't really close (mostly my fault) until about 6 years ago.  He got cancer, survived, and has been in great health since.  My grandpa died when my dad was was 23, so my dad really had no one to go to with "I'm buying a house" or "My boss licks moose cock" advice and learned it all the hard way.  After my dad recovered his health 6 years ago, we've become very close and I've discovered what a vast wealth of knowledge he is.  The guy can't be all that bad.  He bought me Neo Nectaris from TZD on my 17th birthday!!

Life's too short, especially when you get in the job, kids, marriage stage.

As a matter of fact, my dad is visiting me right now.  I'm in Michigan and he planned a business trip from NC so we could golf and catch a hockey game tomorrow.  Dads Rock, and I wish yours a speedy recovery!!

I don't know if I really thought my dad was ignorant when I was young.  I know I loved him, but, because I wanted to do, what I wanted to do, he got on my nerves.  I work with him now, & I treasure every day & wish I could've spent this kind of time with him, when I was younger.  I guess that's all I have to say, I hope all goes well with your dad.

Dude, I hope your dad gets through this with no / minimal complications. I worked in a warehouse and every now and then folks got seriously injured. It always sucked. And each time it happened, everyone said to themselves, "Oh crap, that could have been me."

Best of luck.
