So who here is in school: college, or otherwise? I've been all nostalgic these past couple days....
Yesterday my brother graduated from high school and today my sister graduated from college (University of Washington). A big week in nat's family! They're all grown up now.
It was incredibly strange, especially my sister's college graduation. I saw some people there I knew in like middle school and it took my wife to point them out to me-- I didn't even recognize them (balding, overweight guys who used to be the skinniest kids, etc). Some people I recognized but I had forgotten about completely. There were some people who looked so different we were taking bets on whether or not it was really them. I felt like I was sitting in a 9th grade assembly but someone had warped time ahead 12 years. Totally eerie.

i still have 6 credits to go on a masters degree. would hae finished but got bad health problems that sidelined me to take a W, they would NOT give me an incomplete! bastards! anyways the next semester came around and those classes werent offered again! same for summer and or fall of that year. well, bills come in and they need paid so i went looking for work. i will go back at some point especialy because i only need a C and my GPA will still be good enough to graduate. i have begged for an online class or some kind of equivalency to just finish it, but no. they wont budge.
my sister is going into 12th grade this fall.i started school in 83 and she will finish in 08! ihad 3 brothers in between that that is 25 years of b.s. school buses, lunch money and other various horse s. my parents have had to deal with. real troopers!
i did not go to the 10 year reunion, even though a letter about it reached my mom somehow and she managed to reply back saying i was a big gaijin tarento in tokyo, which im sure had to impress or at least get a 'what the' out of eveyone who went.
of course playing atari reminds me of being in grade school , nes reminds me of junior high. turbo grafx and jaguar reminds me of high school and i actually didnt own anything current in college until i bought a dreamcast and playstation but i was practically finished by then.

i'm in the school of life.

I'm in college, just starting out

School has always been my biggest nightmare. So no, I'm not there, and I never will be.
-
I'm in the "Self taught school for hacking".
-
I graduated high school in 1991. I went to school to learn HTML stuff in my mid-twenties or so. But now I am a professional video and sound editor, something entirely self-taught.

How old are you Joe? 34-37??? I hate school. I got stuck into honors English/reading,math Olympia, and that shit toast masters stuff back in 6th-7th grade. Took me a few years to finally get kicked out,by the time they finally did,I just dropped out of school. One day I went and took the GED test, when they revised it here in Arkansas, back in mid 2000,and they made it harder then finals in High School, and I passed in the top 5-15 percent areas in each subject.
After that I started getting these shit scholarship things from a few of the community colleges around here, which I gladly declined. I didn't even need the GED to begin with,I was managing a game store at the time. I went with my sister to try to get her to take it and pass it. Right now I am doing customer service/data entry, make 9 bucks a hour, which is plenty for the work required. I'm happy. I was never school or career minded, probably never will be. Most people I know who went to college did nothing with it when they got out, they all work at f*ckin wal-mart or something along those lines, making less then me.

I'm looking at getting into an MBA program in international business soon. I just sat for the GMATs yesterday (did so-so :?). I'm thinking about heading over to Australia for it (@ Univ of Melbourne). Damn I love that city, plus I'm really keen on the whole business environment of the Pacific Rim, so I think it'll be a good fit for me.

Recently graduated from highschool, now I'm going to ITT next year.

Yeah, we've actually got some stuff in common. I, too, did the GED thing. I stopped going to school as soon as I was old enough to get a job. Definitely not school or carreer minded. I don't know if I will ever pursue a college education-- maybe someday if I get bored enough. I'm an extremely fast learner, and just about everything I know was self-taught. I see a lot of what you say about people not doing anything with their college degrees after finishing, too. Right now I work for Shell Oil as a retail sales supervisor and have since 2003 and make a really nice salary. I'm happy with things as they are. But I will get bored sooner or later and move on to something else.

I'm all done with formal edumacation - for now, anyway. I'm a workin' stiff these days, so to speak (I only watch porn, I'm not a performer).
I'm happy.
That's certainly the important part. We've probably all known a few peeps that earn more yet hate their lives, or people with multiple degrees and crap jobs.
-
Ha! School never ends for me.
I attend Grad school + full-time job.
"I have no free time" is my mantra.
I can't tell you how happy I'll be when school's over.... except that I don't think it will ever be completely "over"....
I fantasize that one day I'll sing along with Alice Cooper and I'll be singing the truth! :)

I was supposed to graduate from ITT-Tech last quarter, but I think I might be stretched until next March, because one of my last two subjects aren't being taught in this current quarter which I started a week ago. I was on a roll until I failed Physics one quarter and it all went downhill from there. One quarter they wanted me to take 4 subjects, physics being one of them, which meant TWO math courses which I chose not to do, without realizing I shot myself in the foot until this point.
That's alright though, my off campus activity is being involved with a new real estate investment training firm.
After reading Robert Kiyosaki's books and discovering the "Cash Flow Quadrant"?, my mind's been expanded, no joke.

Dude, another mofo changed his name up in here?
How the hell am I going to keep all of you straight in my head?!?

As long as folks don't change their avatars too quickly, you'll at least have that piece of information :).

That's the only thing saving me right now. But some people have less memorable avatars than others.

I'm planning on going back to school full time this fall.

Well, if it makes you feel better, I'm back in school starting TOMORROW 8 a.m.! Yup.
And, I should be working on an essay right now. Arrrrrghhhhhhhhhhhhh......

C'mon, essays are for losers! These forums are so much more fun!

Changed mine to my ebay id. I think one day all of of us should get together and change it to Keranu 1-20 or sumthin. Screw with Keranu for a bit. or even use Nantos id and avatar. I know Keranu would think its funny.

I wouldn't mind seeing that at all :) .

ARG!!! You win,the ability to read included in a thread about school, who would have guess. it doubles its attacking points, turns 4 of my Dark Pokemon against me and cuts in half my Dark Cat Lord Sams attack point abilities.

YESSSSS!!! THE ANSWER TO ALL MY "TEACH CATS TO READ" RANTS!!!!
Also, since this is a school thread, I'm a gonna toss in my couple o' cents worth.
Go to school. Finish school. I too was a "I'm too smart, bored, blah-blah-blah" and I am all those things. Took me a while to figure out that a degree doesn't measure your intellegence, it PROVES your ability to learn. Think college is boring, do what I did. Make a bet with your friends/folks/whoever that you can get a legitimate 4 year degree in under 3. Nothing shines in an interview better than, "It only took me two and a half years..." There's no better way to prove how quickly you learn.
I just bought a Wii

How the hell did you get a degree in 2 1/2 years? That's like... what, 20+ units a semester, including full-on summer sessions? (I twice did a 20+ unit semester, but to do that semester after semester... Ugh!)

Yep. I think the most I ever took was 21 hours. Testing out of some stuff helps (no life wasting math refreshers), but you pretty much bone up and go balls out. Most colleges/universities make you get permission from advisors once you take over a number of credit hours. I was also a student athlete. Tack on another 15+ hours a week at practice.
Government agencies also do fellowships where they crank you through in under three years.

My random "let's start talking about games again" blurb.
The wife brought home a Wii a couple of weeks ago. I've just been able to sit down and play it.
