Title: PC Engine GT Problem
Post by: Air_Zonk on June 11, 2007, 06:55:09 PM
I just purchased a PC Engine GT and the screen turns on but it is blank and won't play any games.

Is there a fix for this?

Just sounds like the contact pins either on the system/cards are dirty.  You tried multiple cards as well?  (And they _are_ import cards, right?  :))

Yes, I am using PCE cards. I also tried using the TV adapter and nothing happens either.  :?

So I take it this is not a common problem?

Sound issues are plentiful, but screen issues are not very common on GTs / Expresses.  Have you tried fiddling with the contrast dial?  If you're lucky, just the contrast control is messed up and the screen is still alive.

The screen issue is much less common than the audio problem, but there are capacitors in the video circuit that can dry out too.

Well I opened it up very carefully and checked it out. Nothing stood out as burn or broken. Still no luck...

You need to check the capacitors with a multi-meter to find the messed up one, or just replace all of them and you'll be set  :)

Hmmm looks like I have stop by my local Electronics Shop. I hope I can figure this out. I've never done anything like this before, but I'm pretty sure I can figure it out... hopefully :D Thanks!
