Title: So I went a little crazy today...
Post by: SuperDeadite on July 03, 2007, 04:34:12 AM
So after a really shitty month with lots of overtime, I finally had a day off again (its been about 3 weeks of straight work).  The good thing though is that overtime gets me quite a lot of extra cash.  So naturally I decided to treat myself and make it all worthwhile.  Here are my latest additions:

(http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r260/SuperDeadite/Game Pics/PC-Engine/birdie.jpg)

Madou and Go!Go! have spinecards.  Sadly Kaze Kiri doesn't, but I've been searching for months and still haven't found one, so I finally gave up and bought this copy.  I am very pleased with these games, their all quite good.  I was nicely surprised with Go!Go!, its really fun.  I know a lot of people are curious about it, so I'll make a nice long review of it after I've spent some real time with it.  Madou looks fantastic, but it will probably be awhile before I can really dig into it.  Coryoon is one nice looking shooter, but I was a bit surprised when I managed to beat it on my very first play.   :-s  Its feels like a game I could pop in any day though, so its all good.

I LOVE Madou.  It's one of my favorite Duo games, without a doubt.  Arle is such a cute and funny character.

I look forward to your Go Go review.

Nice!

I respectfully request a review of Madou Monogatari once you've had a chance to play 'er.

I don't know what any of those games are except for Kaze Kiri.  I never really understood the fascination with spinecards.  Is Japan even capable or producing any art that isn't some form of manga/anime?

I remember Go Go Birdie Chance being one of the more expensive pc engine games I bought years ago. What's a copy going for these days?

The average price is about 9,800yen-12,000yen for a mint copy.  I paid a bit less thanks to the store giving discounts if you make a large purchase.

From Osaka's DenDen Town (I don't know the stores actual name).  There are some great retro stores there.  In fact after visiting Akihabara twice, I'd say DenDen is better for PC-Engine stuff.

This store's prices aren't the best, but they usually have some neat stuff.  For example they've got one of those PC-Engine Artist printer things for sale.  Theres also one of those golden Namcot Hucards (don't remember the game's title) however its card only.  Plus on the second floor they have a shit load of MSX games, and really old stuff like an Atari Lynx, Vectrex, and a Famicom Box for sale.  This is where I bought most of my rare stuff including a mint Sapphire.

Theres a few other good stores as well.  One store has 2 copies of Sapphire in their case.

I actually live in Shiga-ken (about 1 hour from Osaka), so I usually go about once a month or so.  If you ever want to meet up to go hunting, just drop me a PM.  8)

Perhaps, I haven't done too much searching of their computer stuff, but its impossible to miss the 2 shelves of MSX games.
I did ask them about FM Towns stuff, and they've got nothing.  Looks like ebay and YJ are the only places on the planet to get FM Towns games.   :?

thanx for the offer. unfortunatelly i go rarelly to kansai since it is a little bit to far just for games shopping. if i have to go there it's because some work issues which mostly don't allows me to go shopping due to tight schedules. but if once i see a chance to stay there (may be over a night at the weekend or so), i will give you a PM in advance.
or may be cya if you come up again to kanto next time :)

Nah, probably Power League Gold (still cool though).

Well after getting those titles, I looked up the names and I'm 98% sure its Yokai Douchuki Gold actually.  I remember the two kids on the HuCard label and the big kanji title I couldn't read.

However it is just the loose card.  Wasn't this the one thats supposed to have a gold case too?  Either way the price was astoundingly high.

Just how high is astoundingly high?  One kidney or two?

Yes, it is. Is it the one from this link (http://www.vgden.com/article.htm?list?_hu_sp) ?. Just move the mouse over the last name of the first list. You should see a small icon of the original golden case. Would you remember how much it was going for ? When you mentionned a 'gold' game and 'namco', my brain just did 'cling!'.

GO! GO! Birdie Chance.

Let me know if it brings the PC-Engine back to a level of golf respectability after the post-abortion fetal remains that was Power Golf 2.

I don't remember the exact price but I think it was 150,000-200,000yen.  Next trip I'll take a note, also I'll snag a pic if the clerk will let me.

Ouch - yet not as bad as I was expecting.  I figured it would easily clear $200, but the missing case must really affect the price.

Add a zero to that figure.

Awesome, awesome, awesome.  I've played through four of those games (Final Soldier, Graffiti, Faussete Amour, and DK3), and they're all good.

Be sure to post about Bazaaru.  I'm curious about that one.

Did a little play testing and their all quite good.  Fausete Amour may be slower paced, but it works quite well and I love the sound track! Hard rock, jazz, dance, it has everything!

DKandG looks nice but I'm currently playing DKII and I want to finish it up first before a devote time here.  Same with DKIII

Bizaaru Degozaaru no Game de gozaaru is like basically trial and error gameplay, but its quite fun so far.

Yeah, Faussete starts off pretty slowly, but the action starts to pick up around stage 4 or so, and definitely rules by stage 5, where you have plenty of tricky hook-swing-leap stuff to do.  It gets pretty tough, actually.  And I too enjoyed the eclectic soundtrack.
