Hi guys,
I have recently found a couple of japanese PC Engine Magazines from 1989 and 1990 and have decided to scan the great game advertisings I found inside. I have only added Wonderboy 3 (http://www.vgden.com/cdrom.htm?wo3) and Hypderdine Side Arms (http://www.vgden.com/hucard.htm?sia) so far (look at the bottom of each page). There's more to follow...

Great stuff

Dude nice site, keep up the good work. You have probably the best pc engine site I've come across.

Yup, I love the layout (cover art, HuCard / CD). Very nice :)
Great ads, too! I wish I had 89-91 PCE mags! The overwhelming majority of mine are '93+

Thanks for the cool ads!

Thanks a lot for the good words everyone :)
I'm glad you like the site though. English is not my native tongue and I'm always trying to fix my english grammar mistakes and improve my writing style... but thanks for the praise ! ;)
Anyway, I have added several ads over the week end:
Aeroblasters (http://www.vgden.com/hucard.htm?aer)
Afterburner 2 (http://www.vgden.com/hucard.htm?af2)
Cyber Knight (http://www.vgden.com/hucard.htm?cbk)
Double Dungeons (http://www.vgden.com/hucard.htm?ddo)
Rabio Lepus Special (http://www.vgden.com/hucard.htm?rab)
Toy Shop Boys (http://www.vgden.com/hucard.htm?tsb)
Wallaby (http://www.vgden.com/hucard.htm?wal)
Wai Wai Mahjong (http://www.vgden.com/hucard.htm?wai)
Avenger (http://www.vgden.com/cdrom.htm?ave)
Legion (http://www.vgden.com/cdrom.htm?leg)
Valis 3 (http://www.vgden.com/cdrom.htm?va3)

I know, mine too and I got lucky enough to find 4 copies from 89 and 90. They are really hard to come by. I wonder if they are easier to find in Japan...

Kool. I especially liked the AVENGER ad -- the second one -- because that artwork is unique to the ad and is not found anywhere in the PCE manual, as far as I can remember.
So, tell me about the differences between the first and second Valis III ads: what does the second ad (in red) add? What product(s) is TOVS-1079 referring to (soundtrack?)?
Also, at the bottom of the Toy Shop Boys ad, is there an ad for Rom Rom Karaoke - Volume 3 (JVC)? Who are the three girls? Singers endorsing a Karaoke disc (I know that sounds like an oxymoron!)?

Cool ads. I took a look at the Valis III one and as far I can tell, that other product is some kind of video tape. Seems like an anime, but I can't make out the text very well. Also looks like the release of Valis III was accompanied by the re-release of Valis II.
The Toy Shop Boys ad features UltraBox 3 at the bottom. Looks like those 3 girls are in the game. Probably idols from back then endorsing the product since they are in it.
Hope this helps!

 Nice updates! Your site just keeps getting better and better.

I like how in the Afterburner II ad they made the bonus stage look as non-shitty as possible. Anyone who's played the game knows the bonus stages looks nothing like that.

Awesome, thanks for the info!
So the ad was for UltraBox! That makes more sense.
