Title: What's up homes! New PC Engine fan here!
Post by: Nintega Turbine Trio-CBS on August 09, 2007, 11:30:09 AM
Today I just bought a PC Engine Core Graphx II  and Super Star Soldier.

I never in my life touched or Turbo Graphx-16. For a couple of years I have been hearing how awesome and underrated the system is. I didn't think there was anything worthwhile for the system other than Dracula X and Ys until YouTube came along. Well it seems I finally saw the light.

Congradulations! You won't regret it.

Although the best stuff's on CD, there are still lots of great HuCard games.

Thanks!

And yeah those YT videos of the CD games look awesome. The Tengai Makyo series looks hilarious and I am definitely looking forward to trying out the CD shooters like Gate of Thunder, Lords of Thunder, Spriggan (I recently became a Compile nut), R-Type Complete, etc. I just need to get that damn add on.

The SuperCD add-on is very kool (I have it myself), even though it's not the most beautiful thing :).

Don't worry, there are tons of cheap HuCards that you can enjoy before you graduate to CD's...

I love Super Star Solider. There are loads of better shooters on PCE but...not really. After a while I even got used to Hudson's stupid power-up system (avoiding power-ups you don't want is harder than avoiding enemies!), and learned to love the extra challenge it provides. That game is so solid.

Welcome to the forum and welcome to the 8/16 bit goodness.  Enjoy the plethora of entertaining and mostly inexpensive HuCards while you wait for a CD add-on.  :)

I bought it on ebay yesterday. I am expecting the PC Engine and the game to ship to my house by at least Tuesday, if not Monday.

Welcome to the board.  I'm still fairley new myself, but I've blown a ton of money on PC-E games in very little time, but its so worth it.  And yes you need a SuperCD to match your Core Grafx II so many awesome games.

Welcome to the insane hobby that is pce collecting.

By that i mean what ya gota pay for it on the games of corse.

Just keep a,eye out on what your spending for it and you should be ok.

All ya need now is a scdr2.. and you can explore what it has in cd based games.

Btw if your looking for one on ebay check for the seller dreamstarsjapan, most of the time i see him all ways having one to sell. Not a cheap seller by any means still his service is top notch.

I really don't know about that dude. I didn't abandon my Sega stuff when I first played games on a Playstation.

Of course you didn't.  99.9% of early PS was vastly inferior to good SNES / Genny / TG-16 games (unless you're a big fan of jagged, low-poly 3d).

I sold all my SNES and Sega Genesis stuff last year on ebay to make room for a greatly expanded PCE collection.

I bought a TurboDuo like 6 or 7 years ago, but until last summer I only had 4 games. Now I am really into it and my collection has grown substantially.

I'm still into my NES/Famicom/Famicom Disk stuff though!

TRON, Dream Stars Japan is my go-to ebay store as well. (i'm lioncub10 on ebay). Toshi's friendly service is what does it for me. He's excellent about returning emails and answering questions. Hopefully I haven't been pestering him too much. He's found some really great stuff for me.... various NES guidebooks and complete Koei games for PS1.

The funny thing is that my first order from him was a total disaster, but he quickly refunded one of my items and sent me a replacement part for the other item right away, without hassle. Dealing with him has actually made game collecting more fun.
