Make a list of your top 10 favorite Turbo games. Doesn't matter if they are on a cart or CD. Feel free to include Japanese/PCE-only games. You don't have to rank your list if you don't want to, but it's more fun if you do. Feel free to explain your choices if you wish.
This is tough for me because I'm at work right now and can't look at my library. But I guess that's better, because the ones that pop into my head first are probably the best:
1. Space Harrier
2. Sapphire
3. Dungeon Explorer
4. Castlevania: Dracula X/Rondo of Blood
5. Lords of Thunder
6. Gate of Thunder
7. Anearth Fantasy Stories
8. Sinistron
9. Gunhed (Blazing Lazers)
10. Bonk
"Bonk" could be any of the three games in the series, depending on my mood at the moment. One of my favorite platformer series, second probably only to Mario. Bonk 3 (cartridge) is clearly the best game in the series overall, but not all of the music is great (although a lot of it is). Huge levels, and many of them. I ignore the CD version because the soundtrack is totally "not Bonk". Bonk's Revenge is a close second, with a killer soundtrack but it's too short and easy. Although this one has the biggest nostalgia factor for me since it's the first Bonk game I bought, right when it was released back in '90 or '91. Bonk's Adventure is no doubt the weakest from a level design and graphical perspective, but it's still a lot of fun.
I'll let the rest of my choices speak for themselves. See if you can take a wild guess at my favorite genre based on them.
-
So hard. I guess this is what my top ten is at this very second:
1) Ys Book I & II
2) The Legendary Axe
3) Shape Shifter
4) Madou Monogatari
5) Macross 2036
6) Tenshi no Uta
7) Dragon Knight II
8) Sinistron/Violent Soldier
9) Anearth Fantasy Stories
10) Blazing Lazers
I can't believe how many excellent games I had to cross off in arriving at this list. I'd list some honorable mentions, but I'd end up going on forever.

That's kind of the point of the exercise. I think we will all feel the same way. It took me like half an hour to whittle down to the list I posted, and there are just so many great games.
But like you said, this is a "right this moment" kind of thing and I know at least my own list changes slightly as time passes.
Great list, BTW. Anyone else?
-
1. Airzonk
2. Devil's Crush
3. Lords of Thunder
4. Magical Chase U.S. version
5. Bonk series
6. Fantasy Zone
7. Raiden
8. Ys book 1&2
9. Super Star Soldier
10. New Adventure Island
Very tough list to make, haha.
-
Oooo, this is kinda tough. Ask me tomorrow, and I'll probably have a very different list.
1. Ys I & II (I'll cheat and throw Ys IV in here too)
2. Lords of Thunder
3. Akumajyou Dracula X Chi no Rondo
4. Bomberman '94
5. Gate of Thunder
6. Dungeon Explorer
7. Bonk's Revenge
8. Soldier Blade
9. Neutopia II
10. Cadash
-
1. Super Raiden
2. Order of the Griffon
3. Gate of Thunder
4. Air Zonk
5. Devils Crush
6. Bonks Adventure
7. Legendary Axe
8. Parasol Stars
9. Prince of Persia
10. Ghost Manor
I wanted to put Sapphire in there but I think Super Raiden is the better game and my all time favorite time-waster.
I also love Lords of Thunder but I chose GoT because I like changing weapons, speed, and direction.
Air Zonk is reason I finally broke down and got a TG in 1992.
I've always liked the simplicity of Bonk 1.
I almost went with Battle Lode Runner but my girlfriend likes Parasol Stars better.
Prince of Persia is one of the first CD games I picked up and the only version I've played. I've never gotten too far, but I like the puzzles and strange play control the the speed turned up all the way.
Ghost Manor is a recent purchase that also appeals to me for some reason.
Ys 1 was going to get a vote but I beat the SMS version first and the CD version has never meant as much to me.
-
This was really tough to whittle down. In fact, I gave up.
In no particular order*:
1. Blodia / Timeball
2. Rock On
3. China Warrior
4. JJ & Jeff
5. Rastan Saga II
6. Samurai Ghost
7. Gomola Speed
8. Veigues Tactical Gladiator
9. Chew Man Fu
10. Pac Land
* My 10 favorite games to play while under the influence
-
This isn't a perfect list, since I could never narrow it down for sure-
Far East Of Eden: Fuun Kabuki Den
Neo Nectaris
Lords of Thunder
Street Fighter II CE
Ys I & II
Ys IV
Bomberman '93
Dungeon Explorer II
Aeroblasters
Dracula X

-
Where the hell's Military Madness!?!?
:)
Unfortunately, Military Madness isn't a "pick-up-and-play" game for me.
Plus, I wasn't kidding when I listed those games as the ones I really enjoy when I am "under an influence".
-
1.Bonks Revenge
2.Devils Crush
3.Legendary Ax II
4.Splatter House
5.Gates Of Thunder
6.Spriggan
7.Snatcher
8.Shubibinman III
9.Street Fighter II CE
10.Final Soldier
No particular order.Just tried to have five Turbo games, and five Pc Engine games.Ones that deserve honorable mention are Air Zonk and Buster Bros for the Turbo, and Dracula X and nexzar for the Pc Engine.
-
I would have initially thought that my personal list would be controversial, but after seeing these others I think mine'll blend in nicely. My top 10, in no particular order. Now, these aren't necessarily what I think are the best games, simply the ones I played and enjoyed the most.
-Bonk's Revenge
-Gate of Thunder
-Blazing Lazers
-Ys III
-Akumajou Dracula X
-Aeroblasters
-Parasol Stars
-Dungeon Explorer
-Street Fighter II'
-Alien Crush
-

Spriggan
Dracula X
Legend of Heroes(mainly 1)
Legend of Xanadu(mainly 2)
Wonderboy series (mainly Dragon's Curse & Dynastic)

Nice picks, Paranoia.
I like a lot of your choices.
-
Just off the top of my head right now:
1. - Dracula X
2. - Gate of Thunder
3. - Legendary Axe II
4. - Ys Book 1 and 2
5. - Legendary Axe
6. - Dragon's Curse
7. - Galaga 90
8. - Lords of Thunder
9. - Space Harrier
10.- Devil's Crush
There's probably plenty more that didn't come to mind.
-
Nice! Are those in any kind of order or just the order they popped into your head?
-
Heh, I'll take a crack at this too, but in reverse order from good-to-great (just picture David Letterman's voice reading these off, interspersed with moderately funny jokes):
10. Dragon's Curse
9. Ys IV
8. World Sports Competition
7. Military Madness
6. Dynastic Hero
5. Cotton
4. Ys Book I & II
3. Bomberman '93
2. Dungeon Explorer
1. Lords of Thunder
-
A fellow Dungeon Explorer fan!
I don't think anyone but you and I had Dungeon Explorer in their top 3.
I would have initially thought that my personal list would be controversial, but after seeing these others I think mine'll blend in nicely. My top 10, in no particular order. Now, these aren't necessarily what I think are the best games, simply the ones I played and enjoyed the most.

Interesting. I'm seeing a lot of Ys I/II in the top 10 but I think you're the only one with Ys III. Personally I enjoyed Ys III better than the rest (although I haven't made it all the way through II or IV yet) but it didn't quite make it into my top 10.
Speaking of Ys, it looks like Ys I/II might be the most common game to make it into people's top 10. I wonder why this is? Nostalgia? Ys I is certainly an above-average game, but I didn't find it to be top 10 material. Could it be because I didn't play Ys I (or II) until within this past year and thus have no sentimental attachment? When I was younger the game didn't really look appealing to me. I gave it a chance recently because everyone spoke good words about it. It's a great game by any means, but I have to feel it fell a little short of my expectations after all the hype. Despite a glaring technical flaw, I found Ys III to be a better game.
Now, carry on with the lists....
-

Well, I won't speak for the others, but sure, in my case, nostalgia has something to do with it. But then again, I think there are very good reasons why I'm MORE nostalgic about that game than I am about any other game from my childhood.
While I enjoyed Ys I, Ys II was what made the game a legend for me. To be more specific, the stretch from the confrontation with Dark Fact at the end of I through the final dance steps of the ending credits constitutes one of the most amazing gaming experiences I've ever had. As I mentioned in the other topic where we were discussing Ys, Book II has SO much cool stuff. It's funny, it's fun, and it's remarkably dramatic. The final few minutes are so exciting that they still send a shiver down my brittle old spine.
You can't get a fair idea of what the game as a whole has to offer until you've experienced stuff like charging up the bell tower to confront Dalles, turning into a monster to talk to other enemies, discovering the secrets of the land in the mystical rooms of the priests, playing an old familiar tune on the silver harmonica to avert catastrophe, listening to the goddesses' revelations, and seeing them engulfed in flames while Darm makes his chilling final speech.
And to this day, the soundtrack is the best of all time.
-
I guess mine would be:
Gate of Thunder
Spriggan
Rainbow Islands
Soldier Blade
RayXanber III
Super Adventure Island
Winds of Thunder
Jackie Chan
Wonder Boy III: Monster Lair
Summer Carnival '93
It's kind of tricky to pick just 10, especially as I like the original PCE titles more than many of the conversions (a couple have still made into my top ten). I may have put something like R-Type down, but I own the PCB which is superior.
-

Maybe my opinion will change after finishing Ys II. We'll see.
I can't help but view the two as seperate games, though (which they are technically), and Ys III was definitely a more enjoyable experience for me than I.
Summer Carnival '93
Is this one just a time trial of a full game or is it a completely unique game in it's own right? I've always been confused by the Summer Carnival games.
-
Well nostalgia isn't really a factor in my love for Ys Book I & II since I first played it back in like 2002 when I was just getting into the Turbo. It was one of the first three TGCD games I've played, so it's kind of nostalgic to me now, but I love it for other reasons. It's one of the most epic games ever made.

Completely agreed! Nat, you really gotta finish Ys II because the ending moments are unbelievable.
-
Nice! Are those in any kind of order or just the order they popped into your head?
Pretty much in the order I enjoy them, but nothing scientific.
-
Ones that pop in my head. Just in alphabetical order:
Blood Gear
Buster Brothers
Downtown Nekketsu Monogatari
Dracula X
Kato-chan Ken-chan
Lords of Thunder
Sapphire
Spriggan
Street Fighter II:CE
Ys I-II
-
Summer Carnival '93
Is this one just a time trial of a full game or is it a completely unique game in it's own right? I've always been confused by the Summer Carnival games.
Summer Carnival '93 is the full Nexzr Special game, plus a new canival mode.
Summer Carnival '92 is only the Alzadick carnival mode only, not the full game (I believe).
-
As far as I know, there isn't a full game of Alzadik on any console, it's just a Summer Carinval game, &....that's it ](*,)
-
My 10 in no particular order are:
- Bonk's Revenge
- Legendary Axe II
- Blazing Lazers
- Splatterhouse
- Ninja Spirit
- Devil's Crush
- Galaga '90
- Dungeon Explorer
- Bloody Wolf
- Bomberman '93
-
I really like Ninja Spirit, probably my favorite IREM game. It almost made my top 10, but.... not quite.
-

Summer Carnival '93 is missing all the nice anime scenes from the original release though. As for my top10, I'm still thinking about it....
-
Ah, I missed Ninja Spirit. That's one kick-ass game. That probably should replace something on my list (KCKC or Buster Bros).
-
I have a copy of Buster Bros. here from TZD I still haven't opened. Is it really that good?
-
I have a copy of Buster Bros. here from TZD I still haven't opened. Is it really that good?
Yes, even though I still haven't opened up my sealed copy either(but I'm pretty sure that I have the PCE version too).
-
I think Buster Bros is a LOT of fun, especially with 2 players.
-
please, don't open ur sealed copy, that game is really awful. Seriously, its really bad. I hate that game.
-

Dude, it rocks. It's classic, and simply a blast to play. As someone said, 2-player co-op is FUN, but even going solo is wonderful.
-
It seems pretty gay to me
-
I think Buster Bros is a LOT of fun, especially with 2 players.
Long as the friend knows what there doing.
In the past i've tried buster bros with a friend let's just say, it didn't turn out too good ](*,)
-
Buster Bros is one of my favorite single screen style games. It goes Parasol Stars, Buster Bros, then New Zealand Story. I love that game.
-
It seems pretty gay to me
I think that Buster Bros. is great puzzley action, especially with two players. Does that make me gay? :o
-
no, not anyone who plays it, haha. I mean those guys in the game seem gay when they are posing with each other, haha. I didn't mean to offend anyone
-
Buster Bros. is also one of my favorite games for the Turbo.I also like the music in the game.Telling people not to play the game, because it looks "gay"" is pretty ignorant.
-
Well, you know what they say. The guy on top's not gay - heeee's just f*cking! 8)
-
It seems pretty gay to me
Please explain why you don't like it.
-
Buster Bros. rocks!
-
Telling people not to play the game, because it looks "gay"" is pretty ignorant.
If you read my post at the top of the page, you will see that I tell people not to play because the gameplay is awful, I didn't tell people not to play because the characters were gay. Who's ignorant now, you
-

If you read the sentence you quoted from turbofan1, he said that you said the game looked 'gay'("It seems pretty gay to me"), not the characters.
Although you did follow it up with "I mean those guys in the game seem gay when they are posing with each other, haha."
Who's ignorant now, you   :P [-X
-
ya, but the whole point of my argument with turbofan1 was that he said i was telling people not to play because because it looked gay, and that was ignorant, when I never told anyone not to play it because of that. I was just stating that it was gay, I never said not to play it because of that. Don't you know how to read black tiger? I guess you are the real ignorant one, haha.
-
Come on, folks. Why can't we be friends :)
-
I GUESS YOU'RE THE IGNORANT ONE NOW!
-
Wait... is there an argument going on that I'm not involved in? That's weird.
I should get involved. I plan on taking sides. Whose side should I take?
-

The 'gays'.

We sure can! Come on over with Joe and we'll YMCA 'til the break of dawn. Woo-hoo!
-
Whoa wth is going on here?.Heh heh heh.Sorry guys did not mean to start A ruckus,or maybe I did.No really i didn't.
If he does not like the game that`s fine. But for some reason i thought he was trying to take A cheap shot at me and few others in here who said they liked the game. And judging by his reaction,I was probably right.Besides that its Me vs The World.

Young man.....there'sth a plathe you can go, I thaid, young man...........................................in the Navy, where's my damn tools?
-
My list could be slightly warped by nostalgia but here goes..
1) MotoRoader - there's just not much more fun than can be had than a 5 player session of moto roader. Games like this set the turbo apart from the Genesis - which always had the slightly better graphics and we all know it. The Turbo had to rely on fun.
2) Blazing Lazers- Balls to the wall shoot 'em up, plus great music
3) Y's book I & II - when this came out me and my buds could'nt wait to show off the cinematic scenes to our genesis loving buddies. Insanely good music with finger flyin' guitar solos
4) Saphire - Only played this recently on the Emu, but the amount of detail is impressive and well beyond what I thought the PCE was capable of.
5) Ninja Spirit - I remember seeing this got a 10 from one of the reviewers in EGM (paid ad??) - I was stoked at the time and it lived up to the hype
6) Psychosis - Another great shooter with beautiful graphics
7) J.B. harold murder club - Truly original game that that was a blast at the time.
8) Dungeon Explorer - See MotoRoader
9) R-Type - the reason I bought a slo-mo controller
10) Double Dungeons - Again probably a nostalgia pick, but I remember staying up all night numerous times trying to completely map the gigantic last level (took up like 10 sheets of graph paper)- I can almost still hear the music over and over and over and over again all night long..
Sure I missed plenty - the list is based more on memory of my turbografx owning days rather than what i've played recently using emulation
-
Welli currently only own 8 games but i've played quite a few through emus so here i go (in no order)
- GunHed (blazing lazers)
- Bomberman '93 - its addictive...to addictive
- Sapphire - i wanted to screem "16-bit polygons!" with a good ol'lol after but i resisted...no wait.
- Ninja Spirit - any ninja that can duplicate himself and jump really high like is awesome
- Street Fighter 2' CE - Until i get my replacement the emu version will have to do
- AeroBlasters - Just great
Oh... Ok i havent played enough games to finish the list ( i have played more than 10, but ones that arent mentioned i didnt like or didnt think were good enough)
-
These lists are always difficult because I haven't played every game on the TG/Duo, but I've played enough so I'll give it a shot.
Note: I am a shmup fan, so my list is biased. :P
1. Gate of Thunder
2. Ninja Spirit (basically a platform shmup)
3. Nexzr (Summer Carnival Special or original)
4. Y's I and II (I've only played a little, but I know I like it already :))
5. Dungeon Explorer
6. R-Type
I could put other games I've played to complete the list, but I know there are better games that I just haven't been able to play, i.e.:
7. Street Fighter II
8. Neutopia
9. Military Madness
10. Choaniki 2 (hehe I thought I would put that there to ignite that "gay flame war" again :P)
10. Moto Racer MC
I've said and I'll say it again, that's a tough list to compile. I'm sure if I made that list tomorrow it would be a lot different. Though some games are top 10'ers for life.
-
Yeah these lists are always hard to make, but fun in the process (for me anyways). These go in no particular order.
1. Ys I&II
2. Ys III
3. Gate of Thunder
4. Lords of Thunder
5. Far East of Eden Tengai Makyo II
6. Dracula X
7. Air Zonk
8. Bomberman 1
9. Override
10. Dungeon Explorer II
-
....the Genesis - which always had the slightly better graphics and we all know it. The Turbo had to rely on fun....
Wrong!
-
which always had the slightly better graphics and we all know it. The Turbo had to rely on fun.
I guess if you had to compare the US market yea the Genesis had a better looking selection graphically. However if you don't just limit yourself to the US releases then the Pc-Engine comes out far ahead, esp with the cd titles, even when you trow the Sega/Mega Cd into the mix. The Pc-Engine ended up with better fighters, rpgs, shooters, and adventure titles, esp in the graphics department when Super Cd hit. The Sonic stuff was cutting edge looking in detail, but lacked the overall color quality and style/charm that something like Bonks Revenge and others had for instance provided visually. The Genesis could do the sprites, and the audio was great when handled right, but the color really lacked. It worked well enough,I guess thats what counts.
-
8. Bomberman 1
Really? Have you played the other installments?
-

I agree some of the Super/Arcade CD titles I have checked out are pretty impressive (Dracula, LOT..etc). They even manage to pull off some pretty impressive parallax. Still, these games are the exception on the turbo rather than the rule whereas even the cheesiest games on the genny have the parallax - which really gave the games a powerful look and feel. To me it's a huge advantage - probably should have posted this in another forum......
-
So you think the genesis has better grafx because of parallax? PcEngine killed the Genesis and everyone knows it.
-
If parallax is the only important thing to you, then it's no surprise that you prefer the Genesis. Looking at the whole pie though, there ain't much difference between the two systems (many Turbo games have parallax too). Don't fixate on the one thing that the Genesis can do better than the Turbo and then toss out blanket statements about the Genny's superiority. I could say the Turbo is better simply because it has superior color capabilities and larger sprites, but arguing specs is lame and pointless.
-
So you think the genesis has better grafx because of parallax?
umm....yes - parallax helps to give a game better graphics - there's no doubt about it.
-
what about on alteredbeast? The PcEngine version is a direct port of the arcade and is cleaner than the genesis version. The genesis version does have a parallax though. Does that make it better to you? The genesis version can't even handle the body parts being thrown into the screen when you kill the zombies.
-
umm....yes - parallax helps to give a game better graphics - there's no doubt about it.
At first i didn't know where you were coming from because for me the duo has far better graphics than the genesis, i put art, detail and use of color before parallax but then i remembered a time that parallax scrolling was very important to me.
-
So you think the genesis has better grafx because of parallax?
umm....yes - parallax helps to give a game better graphics - there's no doubt about it.
I don't necessarily agree with that. Generally parallax looks great and lively, but there are a few cases where I think parallax can make a game look worse. Those who've read my rants on the Thunder Force series understand that I did not like some of the multi-parallax layers used in TFIII and TFIV because I felt the edges were far too rough and just made the parallax look like scrolling blocks of junk, but that's just me. An example that most people would agree on however is the TGCD version of Ys III which had really choppy scrolling in which case static backgrounds would probably look better to most people.
-

YES! Multiplayer MotoRoader is the best! Same with Battle Royale! Seriously, people overlook those games so much!
-

I hear ya on the Battle Royale!! The one player was kinda lame but with the turbo tap and 4 friends it was a riot (no pun intended).
-
Yeah those games definitely need to be play with others because single player isn't nearly as fun! I don't know what it is, but there is true magic in those games on multiplayer that not many other multiplayer games seem to have.
-
Altered Beast arcade lacked parallax also. The Genesis graphics were nice, but very reworked. Neither version does the arcade game justice completely, but I completely hate the arcades ending.
-

Those are all good points. I guess my point is this - this first thing I noticed between the two versions is that the PC engine version did not have the parallax scrolling, right away you notice it - it affects every level. The other stuff you point out is valid, just not quite as noticeable in my book - nor does it detract as much from the graphics.
either way it's not a top 10 on either system so i'll shut up...
-
But his point was that they added the parallax specifically for the Genesis port.
The arcade original didn't have any parallax, which is what the Turbo version is ported from.
You'd only notice the Turbo version didn't have it if you'd never played the arcade and only played the Genesis.
It's hard to see how that "detracts" from the game when the original game didn't have it either. :D

8. Bomberman 1
Really? Have you played the other installments?
Yeah I guess I'm weird. I like the simplicity of it and I just have more fond memories playing the first one with my bro and friends. I love all of them all, but Bomberman 1 I like the best. It started the whole Bomberman craze for me. My favorite Bomberman of all though is Saturn Bomberman. Also the other game Overdrive in my list is wrong. I meant to say Override.

So, let's bump the 5-year-old thread rather than the 4-day-old thread on this board's first page here:

Here's your list that you posted in that thread back in August, but the TC wants them divided up by Top 10 HuCard and Top 10 Turbo CD games, so maybe you can post up your top 10 lists.

Actually, I totally forgot about Neo Nectaris. List edited.
I'd really like to find a way to fit in a few games not on my list, like Dungeon Explorer II, Neutopia 1 or 2, Aeroblasters, Devils Crush, Bomberman 93, etc. I'd have to really sit down and think hard if i wanted to make a real top10. If we were including SuperGrafx, as well, I'd probably try to fit Aldynes and GnG in here somewhere. This is hard! #-o

I just get frustrated with Top 10 lists and usually don't even submit anything. I try. But too many games don't make the list. Drives me crazy. And if I'm in a shoot-em-up mood, then you can guess what games will dominate the list.

I have never put much thought into a Top Ten Turbo list so this should be fun:
1. Bonk's Revenge - Without a doubt my #1. This was game that got me into TurboGrafx-16. My neighbor had it and the character was just so appealing to me. Bonk has since gone on to be one of my favorite series of games (even on the Super Famicom).
2. Galaga 90 - Probably my most played shooter of all time. Love the different pathways, warp zones etc. The sound effects are amazing too. So addicting.
3. Alien Crush - This game just sucked me into it's world and never let go. Love the art design obviously inspired by HR Giger. The music too is just classic Turbo.
4. Air Zonk - I remember seeing this on display at Toys R Us and wishing I had a Turbo. Picked one up by '94 and this was one of the first we got. Love that parallax scrolling! Return to this one often.
5. Legendary Axe - Should have been the pack-in game. Brilliant in many ways, although a bit short.
6. Bomberman - This game came hidden on the Gate of Thunder game and it was my first introduction to the world of Bomberman. It's one of my all-time favorite video game franchises.
7. Military Madness - So addicting. My favorite turn based strategy game on any system.
8. Cadash - This was one of my favorite arcade games growing up and the Turbo version is the best port with it's choice of all four original characters. A side scrolling Gauntlet!
9. Dragon Spirit - Before Panzer Dragoon there was Dragon Spirit! Another great shooter that I often return to.
10. Splatterhouse - What can I say? One of the first true "horror" games and it's fantastic.
Some of these change positions from time to time but that's about it!

All solid games! I am surprised you picked Alien Crush over Devil's Crush though. My TG-16 list wouldn't be much different at this point, I would probably bounce Air Zonk for Blazing Lazers and insert New Adventure Island for Cadash
-

Totally agree, very surprising. I played them in the wrong order (played DC first) so it was pretty hard for me to want to play Alien Crash after the masterpiece that is DC. I still play DC a fair bit, but right now the pinball game I've been playing the most is Lost Gladiators (SS).
-
I'd take Time Cruise over both Crushes. The bonus stages are what do it for me, especially prehistoric golf.
-
I still need to play that one as well as Digital Pinball Necronomicon. Both look promising.
-
but right now the pinball game I've been playing the most is Lost Gladiators (SS).
Good choice, I love almost all the Saturn pinball games!
-
Yeah it's a great game I recommend it to anyone with a Saturn that likes pinball. The really nice thing is it is a cheapy too. Less than $10 shipped all day.

Ever played Kyuutenkai Fantastic Pinball?

No order. List tends to change a bit from time to time.
Bonk's revenge- best PCE platfomer after Rondo
Soldier blade- fun, sexy shooter. So is time attack and cool atmosphere
Super dodgeball- best PCE sports game, fun to kill players
Air zonk- favorite horizontal shooter, final level is legendary
Rondo of blood- self-explanatory
Salamander- pure classic, great co-op
Liquid kids- 3rd best PCE platfomer, awesome final boss
Mr heli- cute and cuddly, lovely soundtrack
Parasol stars- endless replayability, so much food
Bomberman 94- best hucard graphics, next step up for bomberman series (rouie, crystals, bagular)
I want to play blood gear, Ys IV and the Xanadu games
-
Here's my current favorite top ten list - first that came to mind so these must be my top 10 :P
Bonk's revenge
Blazing Lazers
TV Sports Hockey
Rondo of blood
Vigilante
Parasol Stars
Fantasy Zone
Over Ride
Legendary Axe
Pac-Land

Soldier Blade
Devil Crash
Ys I-II
Chou Aniki
Seirei Senshi Spriggan
Cadash
PC Genjin 2
Nexzr
Puyo Puyo CD (love this series)
Gunhed/BL
I still need to play the PCE version of Winds/Lords yet, but I'm guessing it will make it onto the list once I do (looks like I have procured a copy at a decent price, but something could still go wrong, so fingers crossed). PC Denjin is another one that is high on my "to play" list.
-
I'll play! 1 through 4 are pretty much set in stone, the rest of the list seems to vary depending on memory and mood.
1- Dracula X
2- Lords Of Thunder
3- Ys I & II
4- Gate of Thunder
5- Devils Crush
6- Dungeon Explorer
7- Legendary Axe
8- Nexzr

I have a fondness for bad games, especially platformers. When you've played too many platformers, they all start to seem same-ish, unless their mechanics deviate wildly from the norm. A game that forces you to adapt to a new set of rules, especially due to funky gravity or strange jumping mechanics becomes way more interesting than a well-built, but otherwise bland platforming engine (Like Super Adventure Island on the SNES!). Its all about having to learn something new.
I actually created a speedrun of Darkwing Duck - managed to find a few time saving glitches, all on my own. Note, this is not a tool-assisted run, its done by my own hand.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2hcKXt6qCM0
These days, I'd rather play a really great or really bad platformer. A mediocre platformer is the bane of my existence.

TOTAL TAS! I think my best run of Darkwing Duck was 14m30s :(
-
My best run is 5 minutes before I turned it off.
-
I can't quite beat Darkwing Duck on normal, but it's not bad on easy. The life meter is so generous you can afford to take a lot of cheap hits due to the shat hit detection and slippery controls.
-
I keep torturing myself with attempts at Talespin. Talk about unresponsive!
And the arc of the projectiles is a bitch.

Its honestly not even worth playing on Normal. Its not fun, at all.

I have always been playing this on normal.
Should I be a pussy and try "easy"...cause I need to get at least *some* enjoyment from that game.

Its not that, its that its actually playable on easy... and fun.

I actually found Talespin fun as well. The cheap deaths are really annoying, and it isn't as fun as DW Duck, but its not as awful as people say.

Oh it's "fantastic" - quite literally! - I hope you were able to check it out. I still immensely enjoy it's wacky anime style meets medieval pinball aesthetic!

Bitch where's TV Sports Baseball in your list?

Bitch where's TV Sports Baseball in your list?
It wouldn't fit. It actually exists (someone found a proto card a couple years ago). I guess the same could be said of Marble Madness though.
-
My top 10 are a bit different then most on this list, I never owned a tg16 and got a duo in 94, most of the games I played at first were imports and all CD based. A lot of this list is biased by nostalgia.
1. Exile Wicked Phenomenon
2. Ys IV
3. Exile
4. Blood Gear
5. Neo Metal Fantasy
6. Babel
7. Cosmic Fantasy IV Part 1 *
8. Download
7. Tengai Makyo Fuun Kabuki Den
8. Ruin: Kami No Isan
9. Fiend Hunter
10. Dracula X
* - I'm one of the few on here, that actually really enjoyed Part 1, finding the game very colorful and entertaining, even if I did get stuck in the village, with no way of progressing. (those who have played it no doubt heard of this bug :(

I can confirm with 100% certainty that T.V. Sports Baseball exists. It was on display at the 1993 Summer CES in Chicago, stuck inside a TurboExpress in the back row of the TTI booth. ;)

I liked Tale spin as a kid. I'll have to revisit it soon to know if I still enjoy it. The controls never bothered me. I just got used to them.
-
I got talespin from Mr. Hailing and I still haven't done an attempt at actually beating it. Maybe I misjudged it but the game isn't very fun.
-
In no particular order:
Legendary Axe- Still legendary
Bonk's Revenge- That's how a sequel is done
Air Zonk- Bonk + scrolling shooter = fun!
Lords of Thunder- 'Nuff said.
Bonk's Adventure- Start of something good
Bomberman- Fun with explosives
Jackie Chan's Action Kung Fu- 真棒!
Cadash- Priestess for the win
Gate of Thunder- That intro tho
King of Casino- I enjoy the payout
-
