Seems like ebay banned anything that defeats reigon coding. I'd like that for Dungeon Explorer, Netopia 1&2, and Miltary Madness. If they are impossible to get now, is getting a TG-16 my only option?
-
I would certainly be interested in an affordable one of those as well.
-
Even if converters worked both ways, the good ones cost a fortune, but a decent TG-16 can be had for like $15.
Even if you hadn't already bought a Coregrafx(?), most people around here recommend buying a cheap TG-16 to play U.S. HuCards and a PCE Duo for everything else.

Indeed.
Call me crazy, but rather than spending money on the convertors, it's better to put that money into a PCE / TG-16 console.

I seem to shit spare TurboGrafx-16 consoles almost weekly.
-
Even if you were to find a converter, you would still have to do the pin 29 mod on the PCE, right?
-
You got it
-
Just get it region modded beside converters these days cost too much.
Ask D-lite or grahf to see about it.
-
grahf told me he was moving to Japan this month so he may be hard to reach for a while.

Exactly. Not to mention those converters are really hard to find; I've only seen one on eBay so far (and it's the one that's on eBay right now). I've already emailed D-Lite about having my TG-16 region modded.

Great i was about to askl grahf about modding my duo-r.
Damn every time, some body offers the service there busy or m.i.a for the time being.
-
He should be back in about a year.

Can't wait that long i've had the duo-r for a couple of years now

<tron>, returned your PM.
Sorry to anyone who was planning on getting a system modded. I've been in Japan for a week now. I honestly didnt expect to even make it here, which is why I didnt mention it earlier. Everything happened so fast and last minute. I paid off my bills, quit my job and went back to school.
Honestly I wish I was still in a position to mod systems, since Ive become the typical "poor college student". The shipping costs make that impossible though. Its nowhere near worth it to ship a system back and forth to japan.

The expensive, but coolest, way of solving this problem would be to get one of the PCE Flash Cards by Neo that hold 64megabits. You can fire all your games onto that card and play them on your Jap machine. Not only that, if you have the right ROMS, you can play the US versions through the flash card too, effectively making your little white PC Engine a multi-region console without any modification. Trouble is, it costs $109. At least there are no postage and packaging costs on top. I think it's definitely worth it, and it saves a lot of space too.
-
This leads me to a question I have. I was about to make a new thread, but I'll ask it here instead.
What is the best flash cart available? I only know of two-- the tototek one and the Neo one. The Neo one looks superior in every way, but I'd like to hear some "real world" testimony.
And maybe there are other options out there that I don't know about.
-
I own the neo one, its ok. You have to download multiple versions of roms to see which one will work on the turbo grafx hardware. And it doesn't work on the turbografx+cd, but it does on the pcengine, turbografx, or turbo duo. everytime you add roms, it does a bank swap, so roms you throw on aren't permanent, the software is pretty easy to use. I had a hard time getting it because of the lousy service at ic2005.com that was the us distributer at the time and probably still is. I was going to get the tototek, but it was ugly and barely held any games, haha.

I have the neo one and it's excellent. I find it really easy to use, and with my white PC Engine, it's such a compact solution to the space problem that retro gaming fans have. I don't need to buy every game I want to play, and I can also try out JJ and Jeff and Military Madness on it, rather than the Jap versions. The advantage with games that rely on text is obvious. I think it's of good quality build too, and it looks great.
Don't even consider the tototek one. I got it and couldn't get it to work. It holds half as many roms and is unwieldy and extremely ugly.
-
I have the tototek one and it works great, although like the GBA flash cart I have, I can only get the usb drivers to work on every other computer.
You have to use Malduci's program to pad sound rip files to get them to work and some roms don't work when the card has a bunch on it at the same time. But its quick and easy to use and I'm very happy with it.
-
I'm interested in one mainly for some of the homebrew demos out there as well as the some of the fan-translated games (Wonderboy in Monster Land, Lady Sword, etc).
I think I'll go for the Neo one since I have a Mac and thus no parallel port.
Turbo D, what "service" problems did you experience with ic2005? They are still the distributor for the Neo cart.
EDIT: And why the f*ck wouldn't it work on a TG+CD? The HuCard slot is same slot that is used even if the CD-ROM isn't attached. How would the Neo even know it's there? I don't understand.
-
Is the 128M Neo card available? I thought they hinted that it was coming back when the 64M was released...
-
Wow that Neo flash card sounds neat! Where can I order it from?
-
the problem i had with ic2005 is that they wouldn't ship it to me because the thought i didn't pay them. I had to email them multiple times showing them my paypal reciept. Maybe you will have better experience, idk. As far as the turbografx+cd, its beyond me why it didn't work, I had to unplug the turbografx from the cd dock for it to work, weird huh.

This is where I got it from:

I got mine just four days after I ordered it, which was amazing since I live in the UK.
