thats a funny story  Reminds me of that movie where the cop orders something at a mcdonalds or something and the employee says to the chef; one cheeseburger for a cop, and then the cop beats him, haha.

Sounds like a good deal to me.  You gotta be careful with food.. that cop could have had a medical condition and that
salt could have did him in.  It would have only taken the lady another minute or two to prep a new burger.

If he had a medical condition, I think he would've contacted the resteraunt about it before ordering anything.

This is why America is a doomed country. Not just because this event took place, but because this is considered "news".  ](*,)

Holy f*cking shit, they actually sent the burger to a f*cking crime lab?  They need to fire that entire mentally retarded police department and start over from scratch.

Amen to that. This kind of bullshit is completely unnecessary and a waste of the taxpayers' money.

Really? Cus if I had a medical condition linked to salt intake I would avoid McDonald's at all cost. Their food is 50% salt, 50% lips and a$$holes. I avoid McDonald's, except when there is no other option (or VERY rare cravings), and I don't have a medical condition. Hell, I feel sick after pretty meal at McDonald's. Maybe I should sue.  :P

Ceti, I'm with you on this one...

I no longer eat fast food at all. I used to eat fast food so much I would amaze my friends by ordering stuff in the drive thru that wasn't on the menu... but I've stopped entirely.

Woody, your point is valid. It seems the cop is making it a moral crusade to punish the fast food worker for doing such a poor job, when it wouldn't have taken much time or effort to destroy and replace the bad burgers.

I don't really have a problem with putting in the effort into trying to help the fast food worker to take the choices that she makes more seriously, become a better worker, and maybe a more caring person in general...

But if the cop were to demonstrate against the McDonald's corporation to start paying workers better wages, he'd be labelled a liberal or a communist...

My question is: why in the blue f*ck did this ignorant peace (of shit) officer eat the whole f'n thing.  Wouldn't any rational, intelligent human being stop eating something that tasted so salty?  This cop should be pistol whipped with his own sidearm for being so stupid and wasting the tax payer's dime.

It seems to me the officer did it to make a point.

If the officer's purpose in this is to get that fast food worker to take things more seriously and be a more responsible person, then I support him and I think he's doing the right thing.

If the officer did nothing, it would be a case of all around apathy... the worker not caring about doing a decent job, and the officer not caring about it either... in that case, the officer's salary may be a waste of taxpayers' money since he'd be getting paid to do nothing at all, even when he knows something's not right.

If the officer is wrong, in my opinion it's only for eating at the fast food restaurant in the first place. Nobody should eat at those places. All of us should demand better food and stop patronizing businesses that sell unhealthy food (with or without extra salt)

A question I have is: why is the person serving the food being charged, even though she notified the manager, and the manager tried to "thump off the salt"...??

It seems that since the manager was notified and directed the food server to carry on, the manager should be the one facing charges, not the worker.

Of course, I must be a communist for suggesting that any manager take responsibility for his/her decisions when a lowly peon can easily take the fall.

I just can't believe that the employee who probably makes minimum wage...or less is the one that is getting charged. Isn't the manager the one responsible for employees? If not then McDonald's needs to start paying their employees more. If anyone can sue their employees then it's not worth the minimum wage to work there.

The higher responsibility the higher the wage/salary.

Ceti, It seems from the story that the food server is facing criminal charges, and isn't being sued yet.

I agree with you on the manager. The story says that the food server notified the manager, and the manager tried to "thump off" the salt... If the manager was aware of the situation, then why ism't the manager being held accountable?

This case shouldn't stand up in court. A chimpanzee in a suit could be an effective defense lawyer in this case....no offense to any chimpanzees or other lower primates that may be members here.  :P

Necro, the police officer interviewed in the video says that only 2 bites were taken out of the burger.

If two measly bites made this douche bag sick, then the sodium content of his whole meal would've made him just as sick (assuming that the burger wasn't literally encrusted with salt, in which case he's still a dumb ass for biting into it).  I say the cop is wrong, wrong, wrong, and more wrong because there is no criminal activity - McDonalds was wrong in a-salt-ing (ha-ha) this dick weed, but there is no 'reckless conduct'.  Today, the gal at Wendy's f'd up and put mayo on my burger, but I just had them make a new one and don't plan on suing or pressing criminal charges.

From what I understand, the cook has already served a day in jail, as a result of being charged, according to the article.

What bothered me the most is that the cook went to jail and is facing charges, but according to the article, the manager was notified and the manager also made a decision that resulted in the officer getting the bad burger.

Why doesn't the manager have to be held accountable?

Maybe it has something to do with the "inconsistencies" that were discussed by the officer in the video... Maybe the manager said under questioning that he/she didn't know anything about it...

After hearing the interview in the video, it seems more like the cop felt he was being targeted than anything, and in response, the department is sending a message.

I'm still a bit irritated that the manager gets a free pass while the cook actually had to spend a night in jail. What's up with that? [-(

Cops are arrogant f*ckheads anymore. Most of them have a serious chip on their shoulder. I have never had any good experiences involving police. Not even as a clear victim in a horrible accident I had when I was 17. My car was completely obliterated-- smashed into a cement wall "median" (probably about 10 feet high) dividing the two sides of Interstate 405 by some dumb bitch in a Suburban at 60mph. My girlfriend at the time and I were lucky to survive. My car was a crumpled pile of scrap metal. The cops showed up, wrote her up for a moving violation or something, and then she drove away.

I asked if they could assist me in getting my "vehicle" off the road, and they said tough shit. That's literally what they said. Mind you, this was back in the day before everyone and their newborn baby had cell phones. I think maybe Bill Gates and Paul Allen had cell phones at that point but I sure as hell didn't. The cops wouldn't even let me use their car phone or radio. They took just took off.

I really need to make a thread about all the bad experiences I've had with cops. Whoever it was that wrote that song "f*ck the Police!," man, they sure had it right. I've never had a single good experience with the cops. Not one. Ever.

I seriously feel bad for these McDonald's employees. Cops are a bunch of small dicked losers that got picked on in high school and feel it's their retribution to acquire a position of power and give everyone else a hard time.

Sounds like you've been victimized by "Shitty Cops"... cops who feel that they 'don't get paid enough to care' and just do the bare minimum to get by.  There's alot of cops like those in our Country.  It's sad.
