Title: Gate of Thunder: back of CD artwork
Post by: ceti alpha on October 14, 2007, 07:45:51 AM
I just saw an eBay auction for GOT and the seller said in the description that he can provide a link to where you can print artwork out for the back of the CD case.

http://cgi.ebay.ca/Turbografx-Turbo-Grafx-CD-16-Duo-GATE-OF-THUNDER_W0QQitemZ300159994716QQihZ020QQcategoryZ4315QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I was just wondering if anyone knows about this. I'd really like to have some images on the back of that CD.

Of course we know about it! His link undoubtedly links right to this very site.

He's a shortcut to an image of a back insert:

The back game descriptions read like the most unprofessional garbage I have ever seen. Equal to or greater then Gamepro reviews.
"Blast through 7 levels or so"    Well, how many levels is it then....
"It features parallax scrolling and other silly non-sense like that"   Like confetti, stringers, balloons, and clowns?
"Featuring slightly improved graphics and gameplay"   I have never seen any company release a game and add the word " slightly" next to the word improved.

Not to mention that it isn't even printed on recycled paper.  What a farce!

Ha, that POS would be better off in the www.engrish.com (http://www.engrish.com/) site than my jewel case.

Awesome! Thanks nat.  :D

But yeah, the description of the game is ridiculous. I might have to do some of my own adjustments. But in terms of the graphical layout/design it's quite authentic.

The description is satire and pure genius

Haha. Yeah, I've had a long two days and my head isn't exactly on straight right now. But now that you've pointed that out it's so much more clear to me now.

It looked real until the phrase "Hell Yeah!" popped up on the box. Only post 2001 games do that.

Haha Joe!! I also failed to press 'zoom' on your design.  #-o I had only read the game description at the top in the big font. I couldn't read any of the stuff below. i.e. "This package is not printed on recycled paper."

I will proudly dress my GOT in these clothes.

If thats real it wouldn't surprise me. Game Informer pretty much sucked the entire time it was covering the 90ies. It was extremely biased. It was just one big tool for Funcoland, which was only interested in money, and the Snes made them lots of cash on the new and used market as did the Genesis. Necs consoles didn't. Their ads (Funcolands) looked just as bad as that GOT Sucks one. Now Game Stop owns them, the mags not as bad,but not fantastic either. Still alot of garbage in the mag.

So surprise, it isn't! ^____^

Oh come on, you knew that was coming. And Funcoland was created from the Devil's semen.

Kitsunexus, please never leave this forum. Your Photoshop creations are the stuff of legend. Well, at least, they should be.

You should host an archive of all your images.

Holy shit, if that description was real, then I would've believed that NEC just didn't give a flying f*ck about its own system in R1 land.  Thank God it's just doctored.

Still funny as hell though.

I honestly take it as a huge compliment that anyone would think it's real, even if only for a few seconds.

Well you have to admit, it does look completely official if you don't happen to actually read what is being said.

If you wanted, you could make a more professional sounding blurb and I'd give money to anyone who could tell it wasn't real.

This topic rules! I hadn't seen that first back insert, and it only confirms my belief that Joe here is one of of the great members of this forum. Gotta love the mish-mash of stupidity, and the Johnny Turbo quote is the icing on the cake!

Considering that you guys are considering making a more "legit" back. I have proudly decided to offer my writing services to produce the synopsis for it.

And yes, I did pull this out of my ass in a few minutes time, using the manual for reference.

The evil general Don Jingi of the Obellon Army is attacking the peaceful Planet Colony of Aries!
As the greatest starpilot in the galaxy, codenamed "Hawk," you will face off against the Obellon
Army in a top-of-the-line fighter to stop them single-handedly in the war to end all wars!
Can you save Planet Aries from the evil hands of Don Jingi? Its fate is in your hands...

* Seven intense levels of hardcore shooting action!

* Tons of impressive power-ups!

* Includes Bonk's Adventure and Bonk's Revenge!

* Also includes a secret game...Can YOU find it?
