Thoughts?

I hope it uses chunky Zelda-like polygons and has compressed audio!
-
hmmm, I dunno. Part of the reason why I love Ys is because of its different style of combat. Adding the attack button would make this just like every other Action RPG. I will of course purchase this, but I can't help thinking that this game will not have the Ys feel.
Now if we can please just get the original TG-CD release on the Virtual Console I will be VERY HAPPY!!
C'mon Hudson!

Haven't you played Ys 6 on PS2? Or Ys III remake on PC? The sword slashing button doesn't really change the feel - IMO.
-
I can't comment on Ys yet as I'm waiting for my winter hibernation to play it. 8)

Who the heck are Interchannel-Holon?
By the way, the article didn't say there was an attack button, but animation for the attacks. When Falcom used that method in games like Legend of Xanadu, I thought it both looked and felt great.

Ah, that would be MEGA cool.

Yeah I played The Ark of Napishtim, and while I like it, I prefer the style of Ys I,II and IV for the Turbo!

You might remember them as NEC Avenue.
Name changed to NEC Interchannel in 1995, then the name changed again to what it is today in 2004.
-
Thanks for the info, I totally wasn't aware of any of that!
More like Interchannel-Colon.

I hope it uses you as it's bitch.

Bonknuts's slow on the draw; MotherGunner beat him to the punch.

Any reason for another Ys remake ?
I would think afther the pc ones that would be enough.
Me thinks there taking lesson from squarenix ff serise
-
I wish that they would port over the good version of ys 1&2 :x
-
Dag nabbit, I started a thread about this in Console Chat, what's this doing in Chit Chat? Anyways, it looks like they're going to be 2.5D, which could be alright with me.
-
There's also a third thread about it in console development.
-
Oh, if they are indeed adding attacks, I hope they play like Oath in Felghana, & Origin. I love those games, & personally, they blow Ark of Napishtim away. Though, they'd probably have to add platforming to these remakes, to make them play like those games.
-
I only like ramming gameplay in real Ys games. Ys III is alright on old consoles as an off shoot.
-
Oh, if they are indeed adding attacks, I hope they don't play like Oath in Felghana, & Origin. I hate those games, & this is a fact, they blow compared to Ark of Napishtim.
WORD! Ys 6 is the best Ys game so far. If you disagree with this, you're wrong.
PS: Ys 1-2 COMPLETE features sword animation as well. Not very noticable, but it's there. PS2: These games are in full 3D.
-
The PS2 version of Napishtim is terrible compared to the pc version. I hatted that Konami couldn't get the wrights for the 2d sprites, and you had to put a stupid code in to get rid of the terrible 3d intro and replace it with the original. BTW everyone should donate to Nightwolve for his english patch of Felghana.
-
The PC Oath in Felghana has an AMAZING SOUNDTRACK.
-
It is awesome, but I still prefer Turbo CD Ys 3's music with the exception of a couple tunes.

LOL you rock! You pulled a PD on me!
As for the music between PCE Ys 3, & Oath in Felghana, it's hard for me to decide on which I like better. I'm just glad Oath's music is as good as it is, compared to the Eternal's which were ok, but, not enough oooomph for my personal tastes in game music.
-
Nightwolve made it where you could add the Turbo CD music of Ys Book I&II to the Eternal PC versions. I did that and it made the game a whole new experience.

I <3 the SNES rendition of "Trading Town Of Redmont".

I feel the same way about many of the SNES versions of Ys tunes, though most aren't any better than the Turbo's.

I found some more info here after a little browsing on the links in the latest Falcom newsletter (screenshots included) http://www.falcom.com/kaisya/ir/pdf/071026.pdf . Looks like a 2D and 3D mix resembling Eternal, plus there seems to be a bonus boss fight.
-
Wow. I really like the look in those screen shots, actually.

+1, though not enough to buy a DS. Can anyone tell from the newsletter what the stylus will be used for?
-
Looks nice, but it's hard to know how good it is from such tiny pictures.
Here's hoping for a u.s. release!
-
I thought I read somewhere, that there was some extra "area's" added, but I could be wrong. It looks like you might be able to control Adol with the stylus.
