I went for Splatterhouse cause some of the evil things you encounter are kind of unsettling.
Drop Off! is a close second! That game still haunts me in my sleep!
-
i think you forgot to put ghost manor in there ;)
i also go with splatter house.
btw. drop off is scary? did i missed something?
-
Oh man . . .
-
Axe II is the darkest of the bunch, but more in a depressing way than a scary way.
I'll say It Came from the Desert. It's pretty eerie when people become antdroids, and the mini-game where ants eat their skin off while they scream for help is freaky.
-
Splatterhouse all the way. I can still get just a little creeped out if I let myself.

I'm definitely going to have to pick up a copy of that game. I have to at least get one FMV game. The only one I've ever played was Sherlock Holmes and that was at a display unit in Radio Shack at the mall.
-
I voted Drop Off! since that game will forever be associated with the creepy eBay woman. And that scares the f*ck out of me.
-
please educate me about the scary things in drop off, since i've never could manage to play further than stage 1
-

That "lady creeps me out" as well i all ways think she's gonna turn into a witch.
With the green makeup and all with a wart on her noise and,she will say i'll get you my pretty and your little dog too !
-
I voted for Night Creatures since it's such a frightening gameplay experience. The play control, that is...
-
Silent Debuggers, no question. Turn the lights off and volume up and creep about the corridors - ever so frightening!
OD
-
Clinging fetuses, larval bloodsuckers, gut-puking zombies, boneless crawling lumps of skin, and a girlfriend who mutates and dies in your arms, how could Splatterhouse NOT win?
 Hellp.. Meeeeee!
Legendary Axe II is in 2nd place for me.
-
It Came From the Desert hands down for me. Like Runin mentioned, the flesh eating ant stages are actually some of the scariest scenes I've ever witnessed in a video game, but most people don't play enough into this game to check it out. The Ant Queen was pretty frickin' scary as well with those big eyes and creepy voice.
Me and my bro have mentioned how the Turbo is a pretty good system for the horror junkie, especially since the PCE was released on Halloween!
By the way, how come Devil's Crush isn't listed!? I think Alien's Crush should go on there too.
-
And what about Samurai Ghost?
-
The Ant Queen was pretty frickin' scary as well with those big eyes and creepy voice.
Very true!
3x3 Eyes could probably be considered scary with all its gore and craziness. Private Eye Dol's haunted mansion part too. Oh, and Cobra II is pretty scary when you have to hide in a coffin and you hear your enemy's footsteps.
-
I voted for Spatterhouse because it is actually a scary game, haha. 8)
-
Better add Dead of the Brain I & II to the list as well! Even though I haven't played them, I saw a creepy video for it years ago that showed a scientist trying to bring life back to a cat or something and it had a eerie echo to the meow.
-
Dude seriously, put Silent Debuggers on that list. I play it at 3:00 AM, headphones cranked, doors and windows wide open.
IT. IS. HORROR.
-
Splatterhouse it is for me as well. It's the complete package. It's got creepy music, puke, guts, worms, slime, ghosts and guy who looks
like Jason.. who is one of the scariest characters ever, IMO. Oh yeah.. and it's got that chandelier in stage two that falls down and kills
your ass after you thought you beat the level. Hahahh...

Very good point! I've down practically the same thing before and the rapid beating radar sound (in stereo) really gets your heart pumping!
-
I voted Drop Off.
"When will this shit end, and why the hell am I playing it? What the f*ck is wrong with me? Agghhh!"
-
If it was on there I would have voted for Deep Blue. It scares the crap out of me how anyone could have released that steaming pile.
-
Jack Nicklaus' digitized face portrait scares the absolute crap outta me.

rofl
-
None of these games are "scary" to me, but Splatterhouse is probably the most disturbing out of them all. It Came From The Desert takes a very close second, and Silent Debuggers, if it were to be put on the list, would make a close third. But I think SD is more intense than scary really.
I've considered remaking Silent Debuggers for the PC using Irrlicht. Would anyone be interested in it?

AAAHHH! The 16-bit photo realistic colors! They're downright horrifying!
-
That guy has the largest forehead I've ever seen.
-
He's a Golf Genjin, Half-Brother of PC Genjin.
-
I beat Splatterhouse today for the first time. Man, what an awesome game. It gets more and more tense as it goes on and the last boss is AWESOME. Sweeeeeet game. Short (once you know how to do it) but rewarding. I could see myself picking it up again & do it all over.
The Adams Family THAT'S the scariest game! aahahah

Jack Nicholson > Jack Nicklaus

Haha, I love the filter you put over him to make him look 16-bit :D .

Thanks, that was done by changing the attributes to 256 colors, saving and changing it to 16 colors. :)
Where did you get the Jack Niklaus font? I used a Commodore 64-alike font called CBM 64 but yours looks more NES-y and awesome. Where can I get it?
-
I think that's the font from the actual game.
-
I think that's the font from the actual game.
But where did he get it in TTF format?
EDIT: I also misattributed the pic to Keranu, sorry Paul! #-o
-
It's a font called Amiga Forever and I have no clue how it's ended up on my PC!
