this is what i get for browsing wikipedia console info.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_video_game_consoles_%28fourth_generation%29 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_video_game_consoles_(fourth_generation))
claims that the neo geo had games on the memory cards in Japan only. The main neo geo artile says nothing about this.

First I've ever heard of this. Might be a mistake. The memory card is too small for a Neo game.

what was up with that memory card slot on the arcade :-k was it to save scores or something?
-
Actually it's for little kids to shove quarters into so the bigger smarter kids can take the leg of their glasses and pry them out and not have to pay to play.
I swear I'm going to actually play with headphones one day. More arcade games need that feature.

The card allowed you so save your spot at home and then pick back up at the arcade or vice versa.
-
I've never heard that line of BS before.
It certainly wouldn't be much of a game since the memory cards are just an original form factor PCMCIA cards with a whopping 2KB of RAM and a battery.
-
Hahaha, you'd be lucky to fit Pong in 2 kilobytes.
-
Since Pong, the arcade version anyway, is a game based on discrete logic (ie: no microprocessors or memory), it can't really be stored on a memory card anyway.
-
I'm fairly sure you could fit pong into 2 k of memory, even on the neo geo. :-k
-
The MV-2F board can save cab performance onto the memory card, coins per play, time per game, etc...
Dunno about the others.
-
I'll show you some discrete logic...
-
so anyway, I killed the bad info. let's hope some editor doesn't take umbrage.

Ahh wiki the spreaders of rumors and other bs lies.
