Title: Early Turbo Christmas presents
Post by: runinruder on November 09, 2007, 01:46:21 AM
Well, the holidays are right around the corner, so I figured it'd be nice to give each of you a Turbo game!  If you already own the game I'm giving you, well, now you'll have two copies!  Now, I wouldn't exactly go and sit by the mailbox waiting for these to arrive, but it's the thought that counts, right?

GUTS - Might & Magic III
My good buddy GUTS has been eying up eBay 24-7 trying to win a reasonably priced copy of this, but he's had no luck to this point.  I think I'll just nab Mr Fulci's and give it to GUTS, since Fulci doesn't play it anyway.

Mr Fulci - Brandish
It's time for him to put down that Neutopia crap and play an action-RPG that has some good dungeons and puzzles.

Emerald Rocker - Atomic Robo Kid
For some reason, he's been talking about this game nonstop lately, bemoaning the fact that he's never gotten to play it.  Enjoy it, chum.

Nat - Nexzr
This man enjoys good, challenging space shooters.  Nexzr is about as good as they come and will fit in nicely with the Gunheds and Soldiers on his game shelf.

m1savage - Mahjong Sword
There's nothing m1savage enjoys more than all-nighters with PCE mahjong games, so he may as well have the best one of all.  (And it's clearly the best one, since it's the only one I own!)

malducci - Patlabor
So that he can play it and let me know how it is.

Nodtveidt - Chiki Chiki Boys
It's clear after the Shape Shifter debacle that this guy needs nice, easy action games, and this is the easiest one I can think of.  Plus, it'll be funny to see him trade it away for some crappy US game because he "doesn't want to maintain a Japanese game collection."

Keranu - Bazaru de Gozaru
Keranu will enjoy endless hours of fun with the moonwalking monkey.

ParanoiaDragon - Sylphia
Another "used to own it but now he doesn't" tragedy.  No need to go offering Steam Hearts in trade threads anymore.

Black Tiger - New Adventure Island
This guy has been acting insane lately, confusing Lilia with middle-aged balding fellows and calling JJ & Jeff the "ultimate platformer."  With that last bit in mind, it's time he was reminded of what good platforming is really all about.

Michael Helgeson - Asuka 120%
Mike likes fighting games, and this is pretty much the best one you'll find on the system.

Kitsunexus - Spriggan
If he likes Space Megaforce, just imagine how much he'll enjoy a GOOD Compile shooter.

ceti alpha - Ninja Spirit
No need to roll up another nine thousand pennies!

TRON - Burai
This is punishment for masquerading as a Turbo fan while not owning Dungeon Explorer (which he'll need to get on his own initiative!).

turbo D - Hellfire S
He likes to argue that the Duo smashes the Genesis, so this game will give him some nice new ammunition.

Joe Ruddifer - Choaniki
He digs Wings of Wor, so this should be a pretty safe bet.  Bullets and weird enemy designs galore!

Necromancer - Deep Blue
I say he plays it until he learns to appreciate it!

rag-time4 - Image Fight 2
Image Fight's biggest fan deserves to own the sequel without coughing up a ridiculous amount of cash for it.

esteban - Rayxanber II
He loves checkpoints in any context, even to the point of adoring the mediocre Gradius II, so here's one of the best and toughest checkpoint shooters.  I think he'll dig the music, too.  By the way, where the hell has he been?

sunteam paul - Cal II
He seems pretty desperate for those screenshots.

spenoza - Gate of Thunder
He likes games that get off to fast starts.  Gate throws TWO HUGE CRUISERS at you right away, and never lets up from there.

Tatsujin - Sapphire
So that whenever he posts pictures of his collection from now on, the pics can feature six copies of Sapphire instead of a mere five.

I must've been naughty.  I'm getting the equivalent of a chunk of coal.

Oh well, I'll reciprocate by sending you copies of the Sherlock Holmes twins.  I can't wait to see if you enjoy them as much as you did It Came From the Desert.

Cool, Nexzr. I actually don't own that one. Maybe I'll buy myself a copy this Christmas and just pretend it came from you.

You won't regret it. Nexzr can run pretty high on eBay, but Nexzr Special: Summer Carnival '93 usually goes for a reasonable price. The only difference between the two is that the intro anime sequence has been cut out of Nexzr Special, but it has two other game modes and an extra difficulty setting (at least that's what I've heard about the extra difficulty setting).

I have Nexzr Special and though it would be cool to have the intro sequence it's just not worth paying twice as much. And I can just watch the intro on Youtube.  :)  I play the game all the time. It's hard, but the cool music, graphics and gameplay keep you coming back for more.  8)

Gates of Thunder was always my favorite Turbo shooter. I wonder if this means runinruder is an internet psychic. Do you have a 900 number we should call for psychic advice?

I really miss my TG+CD+ACDPro, but I can't say I'd go back in time and change my decision to trade it for a Sega Saturn setup. As much as I miss Dracula X (I bought it new, shrinkwrapped, in Japan at a small game store in a train station in the summer of '95) I would have missed out on the whole Saturn experience. Can't wait until I get through with this graduate degree program so I can get employed, stop being poor, and buy myself some happiness (or at least some nostalgia)

 ;)

The saturn was indeed sweet. But I think I'd have held on to drac X at least.

Hahahaha, jawesome thread! I thought for sure I was going to get Valis II though! Oh well, I'm still very eager to play the monkey game.

I love Kitsune, TRON, and Tatsujin's presents  .

Haha yeah I almost listed Valis II for you since you haven't heard the music yet, but I decided to go with a game that's more fun.   :D

By the way, since someone actually took this topic seriously and sent me a PM about it, let me state in no uncertain terms that this is just a fun topic and I'm not giving anything to any of you people.   :P

In any case, here's mine again incase anyone wants to send me anything: games, crap, bombs, etc...

Joe Redifer has officially been the first person to send me something out of his own well (which I still haven't gotten around to watching all the way!). I can't wait until someone visits/stalks me!

Haha. You really like to post your address around.  I remember you said that in Armagetron that time, but I thought you were just joking.  :)

Just curious, what did Joe send you?

Not like home movies as in family video recordings, but as in actual written and acted home movies.

I was at my video game locale yesterday afternoon and they had a mint, sealed copy of Nexzr: Summer Carnival '93 for $60. I almost bought it, but I realized I could probably get a "good" condition copy online for cheaper.

Last time few times I was there they had a mint copy of Sapphire (not a bootleg/2nd run copy) for like $250. It wasn't there yesterday though so someone must have bought it.

Yeah, I forget what I paid for mine on eBay. It wasn't that much. Somewhere between $35 and $45 bucks Canadian. But that was a few months ago when the Canadian dollar was at around 95 cents American or something. I should really be taking advantage of the fact that the Canadian dollar is hovering around $1.10 American.  Anyway, there are some copies on eBay right now.

Here's one going for $45 BIN.

That's $48.99 USD, plus $12 S/H which puts it right at... hey, guess what? $60.

Haha. Yeah, I did notice that. I just thought I'd put it up anyway. But it does show you what eVilBay is charging.

A better deal is sure to pop up.  :)
