Title: Coffee spill = Close call for my Turbo Duo
Post by: ceti alpha on November 19, 2007, 12:56:04 AM
I was doing some cleaning yesterday and had moved my Turbo Duo to get it out of the way. I keep my Duo on the floor right now as I don't have a proper set up in my place.  :( Well this morning I had my coffee sitting on my window sill directly above where I usually keep the Duo and I managed, in all my clumsiness, to knock it over. The coffee spilled everywhere and my Duo, had it been where it normally is, would have been soaked.

Thanks the gods.

This just proved to me that I have to get my baby up from off the floor. It's no way to raise my child. It needs a crib.  :)

Yeah, and the whole time I had it on the floor I knew it was just a matter of time before I accidentally step on it or something. I should really listen to myself more. heh  ](*,)

Vincent: Yeah, I think so. That means God came down from Heaven and stopped the bullets.
Jules: Yeah, man, that's what it means. That's exactly what it means! God came down from Heaven and stopped the bullets.
Vincent: I think we should be going now.
Jules: Don't do that! Don't you f*cking do that! Don't blow this shit off! What just happened was a f*cking miracle!
Vincent: Chill the f*ck out, Jules, this shit happens.
Jules: Wrong! Wrong, this shit doesn't just happen.
Vincent: Do you wanna continue this theological discussion in the car, or at the jailhouse with the cops?
Jules: We should be f*ckin' dead now, my friend! We just witnessed a miracle, and I want you to f*cking acknowledge it!
Vincent: Okay man, it was a miracle, can we leave now?

I can't do the whole video-game-system-on-the-floor thing. All my shit has to be nicely shelved at all times, even during use.

Word - especially if it's a heat trapping carpeted floor.  Shelves are cheap, ceti alpha, so treat your Duo a little better (or its controllers might try to strangle you).

I keep my duo on the floor too, I used to keep it on a stool next to my bed, but then one day I tripped over the wires and the duo fell off, fortunately the Duo was ok, after that I decided to keep it on the floor for the time being, until I get shelving and my extension cord.

Yeah, that's really my main problem. Damn you NEC for making those short controller cords. Even just another foot of wire would help.

Don't you wish that you had a five pack of ultra sexy wireless controllers?  Then you could be cool, just like me!

Yes. I want to be cool. Where do I get these ultra cool wireless contraptions?

I got mine from a former member here named offsidewing. Necromancer bought the rest of the set. So basically, neither of us can be of any help to you since:

 a) offsidewing is no longer a member here.

 b) Unless offsidewing is the business of manufacturing these, I highly doubt he has any more anyway.

That said, you can always ask around here. Toshi @ Dream Stars Japan on eBay always has some of the wireless controllers in stock. Last I checked he had a couple brand new ones, even. But you'd still need to find a receiver to be able to use them. Far be it for me to recommend eBay, but Toshi is one of the few "store" sellers there that I will buy from. Unfortunately, he's in Japan so it's usually a good idea to buy a few items in bulk from him to make the shipping cost worth it for you. He always has great deals on loose HuCards.

I got mine from dreamstars. It was expensive and so was the shipping. It was fun playing Ys with it though, haha.

Some of his stuff is overpriced, some is average, and some (especially the loose HuCards) is really cheap. But it's tough to justify the shipping unless you are buying some kind of bulk.

That said, you will not find a finer store seller on eBay. Well, 16-bit is pretty good, too.

Keep watching for a deal on ebay - that's where I bought my first two controllers.  You could also try pleading for help from a member living in Japan or go through one of Yahoo Japan deputy services.

Will do.  Thanks.  8)

But you have to buy the receivers separately?

You just have to buy one receiver; the wireless tap. It usually sells for around 100 to 120 boxed and comes with one wireless pad. You can connect up to five wireless pads to the receiver. You set the controller number via a switch on the pad. Its pretty cool, I'm sure that you'd enjoy them  8)

You will have to play around with placement of the receiver since it is finnicky about signal. Everyone holds a pad differently so I can't help you here.

Personally I hold pads at a tilted angle so positioning the receiver above the TV is like pure gold for me.

This setup is not for people who are animated with their control pads and flail about while they play.

Haha. Yeah I love watching people who play like that. Especially racing games. I have a friend who almost falls out of his chair while playing racing games.  I barely move at all when I play games. To the point where my legs sometimes fall asleep. lol

I like to administer a little Rohypnol to settle down the ladies when they start to flail about..... wait, what are we talking about again?

:) Well I still have that sound issue, but I don't think a full cup of hot coffee would have solved that problem. heh
