CD or HuCard - it doesn't matter , but keep 'em USA releases!
Right now I am in the middle of Dragon Slayer and I love it. I also played (and beat) Neutopia and Cosmic Fantasy 2. Those two are 100% utter classics, we all know. I have Ys and I'm going to start that when I'm done here..
Do I need any other RPGs? What am I missing out on?

Dungeon Explorer.

Either Exile or Cosmic Fantasy 2. I don't consider Neutopia to be an RPG but if I did, it'd be #1 instead.
-
Depends on the definition of RPG.
Turn-based RPG: Probably Cosmic Fantasy 2, but it's a hard choice.
Action-RPG: Ys Book I & II easily
Platform-RPG: If Legend of Xanadu II counts for this, then that would be it. If not, maybe Exile for now, but probably Blood Gear when I finish it.
Strategy-RPG: I haven't played deep into many strategy-RPGs for the Turbo, so I'm going to say Military Madness.
Racing-RPG: Final Lap Twin ;)
Tennis RPG: World Court Tennis ;)
Overall RPG: Ys Book I & II

Might & Magic III is great if you like 'em long and tough. It's very expensive, though.
-
Turn-based RPG: Dragon Slayer
Ys-style-RPG: Ys Book I & II
DE-style-RPG: DEII
D&D-style-RPG: AD&D Order of the Griffon
Platform-RPG: Dragon's Curse
Strategy-RPG: Military Madness
Racing-RPG: Final Lap Twin
Overall RPG: Ys Book I & II

hey, sorry I posted in this in the wrong forum yesteday. was a long and dark sunday sitting in front of Dragon Slayer all day.
I agree with everyone .. regarding Ys, Neutopia, Dragon Slayer, CF2. oh and Dungeon Explorer
I loved Neutopia - I'm a sucker for that kind of game play - Zelda was huge for me in the 80s.
You got me curious about Order of the Griffon... and Exile.
-
I liked exile a lot.
-
You say that you loved Neutopia, so may I suggest Neutopia II?
Since there's so few US released RPGs, you may want to get all of 'em (or at least most of 'em, considering Dungeon Explorer II, Might & Magic III, and Exile: Wicked Phenomenon are rather pricey).
-
Final Lap Twin since it had its own creative RPG experience like no other. I just enjoyed the hell out of it especially when it came out back then.
My next would have to be Ys 1 and 2, definitely.

looks like I've got all the RPGs I'm gonna get (wel, maybe I'll check out Order and NeuII) and I'll keep the ones I have.
I was on the fence about Dragon Slayer but it really IS a sweet game and I could very well see myself picking it up again in a cpl years.

Okay seriously guys, an RPG is an RPG :) That's cheating by putting your top 6 favourites :)
But since everyone else is doing it, I will too. My favs are:
Ys I & II and Neutopia II
