Don't get this forum started on root beer discussion again! I still stand by Dog n' Suds as my favorite root beer!

Is there a non-caffeinated brand of rootbeer I should be drinking instead? :-k
-
Haha, well I've noticed that a lot of rootbeer is non-caffeinated to begin with, but I just don't think A&W is anything special. I think Dad's rootbeer is common, so that would be a better brand to look for. Oh actually get Barq's, that stuff is great.

Barq's bite is the caffeine. Dad's is only available in tiny glass bottles around here and then only at the odd corner store.
-
DAD's rootbeer is by far the best rootbeer manufactured.
And you are truly deprived if you can only get it in little glass bottles. Our local grocery store usually has 12packs of 12oz cans on sale for peanuts.
-
I really think glass makes rootbeer that much better (as well as any other drink really), though the problem is that it's more expensive that way. I guess cans are the next best thing.
-

God damn it. I thought all rootbeer was non-caffeinated?
Why didn't someone tell me this earlier? I've been drinking that stuff for the past week. Argh. ](*,)

I like how this thread has the most posts out of all of the ATTN: threads 8) .

What makes this even better is that not a single one of the posts here is actually from ceti alpha.

Indeed! And to top that off, ceti_alpha was just browsing the forums some minutes ago and didn't respond to this thread!

Keranu, what you need to do, is first, get a time machine, & 2nd, go find one of those old A&W restaurants where the chicks come to your window for your order. I have good memories of draft A&W there. Unfortunatly, the only one I can remember existing, is loooooooooooooooooong gone, like, gone 25 years ago, maybe before you were born! Though, I think I heard there are still some in the midwest. Some KFC's do have an A&W there as well, with A&W from the tap. I get root beer floats there, pretty good. The burgers there though, aren't as good as the original restaraunt.
BTW, does anybody have a Happy Steak near them? I haven't been to one in years, probably 20 years since ours kicked the bucket.
-
There is a A&W fast food resteraunt a few towns away from me that I've been interested in going to. It's conjoined with another resteraunt (probably owned by the same company), but I can't remember which (might've been KFC, but don't remember). Your post is making me more interested in going there now :D . Never heard of Happy Steak.
I think people are under the impression that I hate or even dislike A&W rootbeer. I don't really have anything against it, I mean it's ok because it's rootbeer, but I think with it being the most common rootbeer, there is much more special rootbeer out there :) .
-
I agree, I'm just talking about the draft A&W. I'm personally not a big root beer guy, I'm more Mountain Dew or Crabjuice...I mean Sunkist :) You should check it out, if it's as decent as the KFC/A&W out here atleast, you should enjoy yourself a root beer float!
-
There are a few A&W drive-ins in Seattle. I've never been to one, though.
-
A&W rootbeer is 100% better when had from the restaurant than from a can or bottle. The burgers there are a bit weak, but I go for the rootbeer. Also they have these fried cheese balls called "cheese curds," they're really good. Man, I'm getting hungry and thirsty just speaking of all of this! =P~
-
Using the word "curd" to describe any kind of edible substance does not sound appetizing in the least.
-
Turbo D, any chance of getting a favorite rootbeer poll any time in the forseeable future?
-
Any kind of said poll needs to have DAD's as a choice.
-
Has anyone tried Jones Soda's Root Beer? It's pretty decent, but not mind blowing.

It has been created :)

Woah, hold the phone there partner.
Cheese curds are not supposed to be fried but eaten fresh without frying!

Unless you're at the cheese factory, they won't be fresh enough to be enjoyed as the gods intended. Besides, deep fat frying can improve the taste of anything. :)
-
all I know is that they are super good, haha =P~
-
Fried cheese curds sounds like an instant heart attack. Ugh.

There used to be this place over in my hometown of Vallejo called Mr Corn Dog.... not only did they have deep fried corn dogs but they also had deep fried cheese sticks in cornbread batter!!
I would never eat there now, but back in the day I used to love the place when I found out about it. They always had good video games there too.

Word - though all great things in moderation.....

Did someone say root beer and Battletech?! Sounds like a plan to me. But we'll have to have a loser's lounge where the guys with no mechs left go to drown their sorrows in root beer and Turbografx/PC Engine.
I was worried when I first saw this ATTN thread. lol. I thought that maybe in one of my root beer induced stupors I told off the wrong person or something. :P

Hahahaha, what. No way, ceti alpha, we love you!
I made the ATTN thread because there was too much hate going around in the other ATTN threads. :x

Agreed. :|
But the shout out is much appreciated. :) You guys are awesome too. :D
Oh and speaking of cheese curds: behold the "POUTINE"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poutine
God bless those Quebecers.
But it doesn't beat the Maritimes' Donair:
http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Dashs-Donair/Detail.aspx
I think Halifax has the most places you can buy donair, per capita, in the world. lol. Good grief. We obviously have issues over here. :-" But man, nothing compares to a proper donair after a night of debauchery. Hangover prevention 101. I limit myself to 4 donairs/year. Basically one per season, and I think it's time for my xmas donair.
-
I would love to try fried cheese curds. Fresh cheese curds are decent, but nothing mind blowing as Wisconsins like to make you believe.

It's hilarious how every region has their trademark, "bad for you" food that they boast about like it's some sort of sports team.
Go Halifax Donairs!!!
-
Those poutines look disgusting, but the donairs sound pretty tasty. They don't even look terribly unhealthy, as long as the meat isn't drowned in the sauce.

Hey now...fresh cheese curds (or fried) are excellent. Sorry..had to throw my cheesehead on for a min...lol
-
hehe.
-
I love cheese 8)

I actually had my last donair of teh year. Even if I cheat and let myself have one over new year's, that means no donair until summer. Let me tell you though, it was fantastic! lol. Worth every 6 hundred and 25 cents. :) hehe.
Though when I was looking through the menu I found a forgotten item: the Donair/Poutine....or... the Pounair as the locals call it. As if one or the other wasn't bad enough... :-({|=
-
I just googled that poutine dish. It looks really tasty! We don't have that in California ( at least I haven't come across it, haha.)

Well, the beauty of poutine is that it's not too hard to make. I definitely recommend you making up your own batch. 8)
