Post by: Turbo D on December 19, 2007, 10:04:32 AM
So I found this thing on ebay, haha. It seems to be a beefy memory base 128. What do you dudes know about it? Here is a link to the one I saw:

It's a MB 128 clone. IIRC it's backwards compatible with the MB 128.

as the Memory Base 128 from NEC, you put it between your PCE und controller. it allows you to save some games which supporting this save function.

as for the memory base 128 i know that the following games will be supported for sure:

A-Ressha de Ikko- 3
Aoki O-kami to Shiroki Mejika [Save-kun]
Atlas (the) - Renaissance Voyager
Brandish
Eikan Wa Kimini
Emerald Dragon
Fire Pro Female Wrestling (WOWOW vs. JWP)
Magicoal
Linda Cube
Nobunaga no Yabo-: Budo- Fu-un Roku [Save-kun]
Nobunaga no Yabo-: Zenkoku Ban [Save-kun]
Popful Mail
Princess Maker 2
Private Eye Doll
Super Real Mahjong P II & III Custom
Super Real Mahjong P V Custom
Tadaima Yu-sha Boshu-chu
Vasteel 2

i don't know, if the save-kun supports the same games or others or more or less...

Supposedly the Save-Kun is backwards compatible with the MB 128. In other words, they both support the same games.

Tatsujin, another one is Koei's SanGokuShi III (Romance of the Three Kingdoms III)

For anyone interested, Aoki O-kami to Shiroki Mejika was known as Genghis Khan II in the US, and was available in English on the SNES and Genesis.

I actually asked this seller to find me one of these a few months ago, and he said he'd check his "warehouse"

I don't know if he found it specifically for me or not, but the fact I asked for it may have something to do with the price.

Holy crap, $70 for that?  Then I have about $700 worth of those.  Anyone needs one let me know.  Cheap.

Dean, actually I've wanted one of these for quite some time.

I saw you also have Nobunaga-no Yabou Zenkokuban on your big sale list, but without a spine card. Toshi of DreamStarsJapan told me that originally the save-kun unit was available with Nobunaga Zenkokuban....

I've noticed that the spine card for my Nobunaga-no Yabou Bushoufuunroku has no barcode on it, so that may have been sold with save kun as well.

Anyway, I'm interested. How much do you want for a save kun? (I want the koei save kun and not a NEC mb-128, as I'm a Koei geek)

neat, thanks! I'm threatening to do a 'dare to compare' of the 8 and 16 bit consoles; finding out what was on all 3 is sometimes difficult due to name changes.
