Who programmed the TG-16 emulator in the Wii, Nintendo or Hudson???
-
Why do you want to know, so you know who's ass to kick?
-
We don't know. I think the emulation might even be done on a per-game basis (see the military madness scandal)
-
Because Hudson would know the system better...
-
This is a good question.
I've actually been wondering about ALL the emulators on the VC. Who develops them? I'm kind of surprised no credit is given anywhere.

Seriously, did Sega make the Sega emulators, did Hudson make the TG-16 emulator, did SNK make the Neo·Geo emulator?
Because if Nintendo made them all, they won't be as good because Nintendo doesn't know the other systems like they do.

This makes sense as it would explain why the games take so long to store on an SD card.
-
I don't know, the emulation on the VC seems to be pretty damn flawless as far as I can tell. Neo Geo, Genesis, etc all play, look and sound exactly the same as the consoles. Except in 480p.
-
Nintendo or Hudson Soft most likely hired some guys with emulation experience to do the programming for them.
From what I've seen, the emulation works well. But, I still don't like the concept of re-buying games that I already own. I'll stick to Magic Engine on the PC, which is more convenient: I can use my own CDs and it supports almost every game flawlessly with superior filtering of graphics and sound.

clearly, you haven't played 'sega classics collection, volume 1'. Horrible, horrible sound emulation. written by sega, when better open source genesis emulators existed.
-
Yeah, what's up with that? I have the Dreamcast version and some games I won't even play because the sound is so bad. They made it sound like bad NES sound. It's hard to explain, but that's the best way I can describe it.
How did they think releasing it in that condition would be OK?
-
i don't know what they were thinking. it came around in the final months of the dreamcast, so maybe budget problems were involved.
-
lol, I was so stoked about that game. When I got it, all of my friends made fun of it. They said that my dreamcast couldn't handle genesis games :x
-
The emulation is probably farmed out to losers like Digital Eclipse who make sure the emulation is as awful as possible.
-
Hudson of Japan is handling the emulation. It's probably in house since Hudson has always been into software development. They've done many of projects for other companies (like nintendo, x68 OS, etc), so I wouldn't see why they would out source it.

I wouldn't count on that. All the PCE people are probably either gone or promoted to positions way above lowly coding. That stuff was ages ago. They would have (probably) lots of technical documentation, but they could just send that to some other company if they wanted to.

do you have any proof?
