Title: Switch on back of SuperGrafx for?

What is that small little switch for?  It's either in the I or II position.  Anyone know?

The switch on the back of the SuperGrafx selects either PC-Engine compatibility mode or native SuperGrafx mode.  The switch was put there to support PC-Engine games that accessed the Video Display Controller in a certain fashion (I'm not sure how...I'm not THAT geeky :)

So which position should it be in?  Or does it even matter since I don't have that display controller?   Currently it's set in the I position, and I can play SuperGrafx and PC engine games.

btw, congrats on your acquistion of terraforming.

Oh, the display controller is one of the chips inside of the unit...not an external device.  I think you would only see a difference if you had a game that was PCE/SG compatible (there are a few of those), but as for what the switch should be at, either one should be fine unless you see some weird video distortion going on.

If you own Darius Plus which is a SGX/PCE Hybrid cart, you could try the different positions. The difference between SGX and the PCE when running this game is that the sprites flicker way more on a PCE than a SGX, at least when you fight the level-boss.
