Title: How do you pronounce your forum name?
Post by: MotherGunner on January 02, 2008, 11:20:36 AM
Mine is self explanatory.

:D

Hahaha, MotherGunner only comes through with like 3 posts a year. I love it. Only 2 left, buddy.
But while we're on the subject, mine is pronounced "Nat," like the bug, in case your IQ is below 30. No, it's not "Nate." Nate is not my name. Do not call me Nate. No, Nat is not short for Nate. No, Nat is not some improper form of Nate. It is not short for Nathan, either. Or Natalie, just to clarify. I trust the majority of the crowd here is capable of grasping this elementary concept, but the general public seems unable. Thank you.

How about Nathaniel? That's what I've always figured Nat to be a short term for. But you never know. My name is short for "Joseph" and I HATE that name.
Anyway my first name is derived from Lord Xenu's eldest subordinate Jzoh, and is pronounced as "Joe" just like the common name Joe, which is very similar to my name.
My last name I made up myself before I was born. It is pronounced exactly as it is spelled. Red. If. Er (as in "her" without the H).
f*ckin' awesome.

My name is pronounced as ROL-LINS like "Henry Rollins" but my name only has one L. Used to be my name on Counter-Strike servers couple years ago.

It's hard to write down a word break down of mine because it is hard to break down the Mi sound. Say it like the name Melissa but only say the M-issa part. You say it with 1 sylable though. Missa.
I had a friend named Melissa when I lived in a city a few hours away and Missa was her nickname. I thought it was so cool I stole it after I moved as an email name. :-$

I got this from the scene in Rounders where Matt Damon(Mike) is helping Martin Landau(Abe) and he gets everyone to fold on the river in 7-stud. Then when they ask, "Abe what did you have?" he replies, "Nottin' but a busted straight." It's kinda laughable now that I think about it, in a five way pot, getting about 15-1 odds on their call, someone will always pick you off.

In Colombia, it's people that come from the Department (equivalent of a U.S. State) of Antioquia. I travel to Medellin, the capital of Antioquia, relatively frequently. I wouldn't say it's "Costa Rica safe," but the chicks there are hot as hell, and may be worth risking a little something something. I'm just saying. :-"

Nothing too hard about turbostar. [Turb-o Starr]
A little fun factoid for all of my fans- I used to be EvilAdol when I first joined in 2002. After lurking for a few years I finally started posting under the name TurboSage. After I forgot that password- I made a 3rd account known as Turbo_Sage.
There will be a test at the end of class!

So why did you change from Turbo_Sage to TurboStar?

I typically pronounce my name as Kurr-ah-new, but the technical way would be Kay-rah-new.
Turbo_Sage, TurboStar, Shubbinman, too many names! :D

My name is pronounced by myself the way I assume everyone would read it. Its taken from my favorite arcade game, but even if someone were to say that the official pronounciation should be romanjinized or something, I just say it how it really is.
Pretty much all of the names so far seem to be pronounced how I thought.
I think that I sway between "ker-AA-noo" and "ker-AW-noo", but I'll always pronounce esteban as "Stevek666".

Hahahhaahaha. :)
Whenever I see a post from Keranu, I sing the theme song to the PBS show "Caillou]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FIGUmG8rB3w&feature=related]Caillou (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FIGUmG8rB3w&feature=related)", substituting "Keranu" (Kurr an ooo), of course.
Oh god, not Caillou! The sad story of a kid under chemotherapy. :(

Caillou is just more proof that today's children programming just makes kids dumber, unlike stuff like the oldschool Sesame Street, which provided fundamental learning.

I pronounce it "nod teevee edit". I assume the umlaut is gratuitous.

^^ That's true, all those old kid's shows are totally watchable and entertaining even to adults (3-2-1 Contact, Square One, etc), while turning on OPB and attempting to watch the kid's shows they have now is f*cking disgusting. There's not a bit of real learning involved anymore, just stupid moral lessons that they should be learning from their parents.

Watching it on Youtube now, I will have to concede to you that that looks pretty good.
A furry who hasn't seen between the lions?!?! Shock! Gasp! you must watch it in the near future. Hopefully the PBS stations in TX carry it. It's educational without being cloying, and the writing is clever, but sometimes punny. (but you kind of have to expect that from a show that's teaching reading.)

I actually very VERY rarely watch PBS anymore, call me crazy but it feels like I'm too old for it. :P
And f*ck all other shows that teach reading. The only reading show that matters is the only one awesome enough to be sponsored by mid-90's SEGA (although this video doesn't mention it):
I think I watched all of the episodes they had back then.

Ghost writer was huge with me and my friends back when it was new. But I don't remember any sponsorship by Sega.

In the later episodes there was a sponsored by Sega screen. It was a blue logo on a white screen, and the whole point of the little promo was to stop playing games and read. Very odd. I can't find it on YouTube, but this page (http://www.inbaseline.com/project.aspx?project_id=155914) even says it was in there (look at the last entry under the funding section).

We've discussed nodtveidt's name on here before and I remember the correct pronounciation was way off compared to what others thought  . I always pronounce it nod (as in nodding your head) - tee (yes I flat out pronoune the T) - vayed - teh.

I always pronounce it Nahd-veydt, with the "v" taking a more "f" sound, kind of like a stereotypical Russian, or a James Bond villain. Hey, that was redundant!
