The title pretty much says it all.

Bomberman? on FX? News to me.

Are you talking about the Gate of Thunder 3 in 1 disc with the Bomberman easter egg?
-
I don't know of any Bomberman game, demo or otherwise, released on the PC-FX.
Hi-Ten Bomberman was developed for the PC-FX but instead they converted it to Saturn Bomberman and released it there instead.

Same here. If there is such a beast (and it doesn't cost a trajillion dollars), I'd be convinced that I must buy a FX.

There was that Far East Of Eden spinoff disc, but that's for Turbo...
-
I cannot find it now, but when I was researching for which NEC system to buy origionally I read a butchered translation of a Japanese website which stated that one of the following discs has a playable bomberman easteregg (I just cannot remember which now):
PC Engine FAN Special CD-ROM Vol. 2
PC Engine FAN Special CD-ROM Vol. 3
Super PC Engine FAN Deluxe Special CD-ROM Vol. 1
Super PC Engine FAN Deluxe Special CD-ROM Vol. 2
I have the Special CD-ROM vol 3 and I have the Super fan CD-ROM vol 1 and I have tried pressing a lot of buttons and doing strange things but I have not found anything extra on either. Although I don't really understand the book area well enough to explore all the options it has. Something could be easly hidden in there and it would take me ages to find it.
Also, do these discs do anything in the PC-Engine or just the FX? The video is really small and bad quality so I figure they are either holding data for both machines on the disc, or the video on the disc will also play in the PC-Engine. It looks antiquated enough. Although I am no expert at all at what PC-E video looks like since I have not watched any within the last 10 years.

PC Engine Hyper Catalog 4 has a Bomberman demo on it but not sure if that's what you're looking for.
-
Yeah, the Super PC Engine Fan Deluxe CDs are both FX, and PCE. I had the fist one. It has a demo of Popful Mail on it (not sure why, was it reprinted around that time?), and some demos made with the Devlo box. I've never seen what's on the FX since I don't have one.

Cool, when I eventually get a PC-E cdrom drive I will have to check out what else is on the demos.

That's pretty cool.

Hi-Ten Bomberman was not developed for the PC-FX.
Also, Saturn Bomberman is not really a conversion of Hi-Ten at all.

Just to make sure this is clear:
I'm not talking about Hi-Ten Bomberman. I am talking about the bomberman easteregg game which is supposedly on a demo disc the FX can play.

As far as I know, as others have said, the only easter egg Bomberman game is for the the Gates of Thunder 3-in-1 disc that came with Turbo Duo in the U.S. That disc had the original PCE/TG16 Bomberman.

As for demo discs for PC-FX or PCE CD-ROM2/Super CD-ROM2, I don't know.

Does it play on the FX?

Hi-Ten Bomberman was not developed for the PC-FX.
Also, Saturn Bomberman is not really a conversion of Hi-Ten at all.
--------------------------
I know this is getting off topic here but Hi-Ten Bomberman was developed for the system that became the FX. When it was shown and played at one of the Hudson Caravan (?) shows in Akihabara back in like '93/94, it was played on a unit with PC Engine controllers and the hardware was not visible. There is some speculation that the console under the hood was Hudson's Tetsujin which was later abandoned/merged with NEC's early FX work in progress to make the PC-FX. When that happened, Hi-Ten Bomberman was announced for the FX. In fact, afaik, the game wasn't called Hi-Ten Bomberman when it was first shown. The name of the game was announced with the FX announcement later. The FX version was completed and then completely redone for the Saturn. The only major changes being the addition of other Hudson characters which (I got the impression from an interview with Takahashi Meijin I did a while back) were not all originally in the FX version.
To get back on topic though...afaik, there is no Bomberman demo hidden on any FX disc. You could probably find out by getting all of Hudson's FX titles and taking a peak at what's on the disc. But really, this info couldn't have been hidden this long. Even the Japanese sites have nothing to say on the topic. this would be quite a find if true.
