A bad one worth about $0.25
-
Yes, but since I paid 0.00 for it, I'd still call it a bargan. What is the name though? I want to know, so I know what game I own. I am guessing it is a momo game due to the peach on the boys forehead, but I have never seen a momo game, so I am really kinda guessing wildly. Right now it could be Momo Boy - When animals attack, Onis you hack.
-
Momo Tarou Densetsu Turbo.
-
Momo Tarou Densetsu Turbo.
Well if it's Turbo, I can hardly go wrong. :D
-
rolf..and i thougt, this thread is about which hucard match the best with you
yeah..those momotarous quite sucks, except of katsugeki, the only jump'n'run in the serie!
-
I don't think there is a more worthless set of games than the Momo games. I want to vomit just thinking about them.
If they were the last video games on Earth I still wouldn't touch them with a 10-foot pole.
Yes, but since I paid 0.00 for it, I'd still call it a bargan.
Hardly. The reality is that you've been brutally taken advantage of.
My best recommendation is that you rid yourself of that trash as quickly as possible if you plan on having any fun in the near future. If by some stretch fun is not your thing, then by all means hold onto that game with an iron grip.

Well so far I have resisted feeding it after midnight and I took away its little cymbals. What kind of game is it though, and why is it so bad?
-
the biggest fun of 'em, is to collect'em, so you can complete the hudson volumes 1~61

A crappy one.
and why is it so bad?
Oh, you want a real explanation. Well then why didn't you just say so?
It's a crappy Japanese RPG that is..... crappy. In all respects. The graphics are ugly, the sprites are a mere 10x10, the gameplay sucks.... There are literally hundreds of games for the Turbo/PCE that are better than this travesty. So why would you waste your time with this?
If you want someone to hate the TurboGrafx-16/PCE, this is the game you give them. I'm sure whoever gave it to you is laughing to themselves right now just thinking of the pain and suffering you will endure upon inserting this cartridge into your system.

Are you suggesting I sell it on ebay as a loose card for 39.99 RARE and sealed? (I will melt a plastic baggy around it, thus sealing it)
-
Regardless of what you plan to do with it, I think sealing it is definitely a good game plan so you don't run the risk of it accidentally getting inserted into someone's CoreGrafx.
-
Well, the Momo Tarou boardgames for PCE are definitely worthless. I have the RPGs too, but I haven't played them yet. While they do seem awful from a distance, I'm not completely convinced yet that they're going to suck. Kaminari once remarked that they're comparable to Ziria, and Ziria is a great game.

:o
There's no way that can be true.

.
Boundary Gate seemed awful from the intro, godawful, but the game isn't half bad. I like wizardry/might and magic games though.

I wouldn't be surprised if it were. Ziria is pretty much a stone-age RPG, not an advanced, all-around masterpiece like Kabuki or Manji Maru. But it's a quality stone-age RPG.

There isn't a site like this for PC-FX collecting is there? I would love some on the web way to keep track of them as I collect them.
-
Sadly, no.
At one point I was going to suggest they add PC-FX games to their site but Tatsujin and el nino don't really seem to be into the PC-FX.

Shhhh....stop airing my dirty lil' secrets :x

I bought a bunch of those momo games from d-lite :)

sorry 'bout that. i was, some years ago^^ but it doesn't mean, that we're couldn't also implement a separated list for any PC-FX soft in the future. but it isn't on top of our priority list. anyway, have to discuss this matter with elnino-kohai in details first.
so if we give the go for it, a detailed complete list, with all the details just as maker, release date, release price, product number etc. as an xls-sheet would be much appreciated :)
example of contents:
Name 1941 Counter Attack / 1941カウンターアタック
Release date 08/23/1991 (¥9800)
Developer Hudson/Capcom / ハドソン/カプコン
Publisher Hudson/Capcom / ハドソン/カプコン

Product number HC91048
Release Type Normal
Number of players 1-2

You can probably find a lot of that information on PCECP. I also have a fairly large library of PC-FX games (though not a complete one) so I could help fill in any gaps.
-
Boundary Gate rules, momotaru games on the other hand are absolute shit. Why did they make so many of them, were they actually popular back then?
-
Hmm... I kinda wanna play this. :D
-
Man, you guys are nuts. Sure the Momo games won't blow your socks off, but as far as HuCard RPGs go they hold their own, and the Dentetsu games (the train board games) they were basically the pre-curser to Mario Party.
That being said, my favorite Momo game is Katsugeki (the platformer) but that has more to do with the fact that I can't read kanji than the games themselves.
The Momo games have always sold in insane quantities, so they are super worthless. I have the whole set on PCE.
Shit, you'd think they were Circus Lido or something.
-
Haha, when I first replied to this thread I seriously thought this was a test, like the Screenshot Quiz.
I bought a bunch of those momo games from d-lite :)
I thought we agreed never to discuss that :-#
-
Whoa, whoa, lots of Momo dissing! Granted I never tried playing through them, but I think people are quick on the trigger to diss them when I doubt these haters ever played through them themselves. They look like they could be decent old skool RPGs and I love how that one Momo game on PCE allows you to play from four different quests, each with a different character. I'd love to play through them someday, but not sure if I can handle the amount of Japanese - A.K.A., Translation please, Bonknuts!
-
I'll admit I haven't played all the way through one.
I've played enough, however, to determine I never want to touch one again.
I've never tried the platformer, though.
-
I've never tried the platformer, though.
that's maybe a fault. since it's not a breakthroughing game, at least it's the only playable of the serie.
-
Are the Momo games related to the Namco arcade game Wonder Momo? That game rules.

How much was enough to you? 5 - 10 minutes? :P The platformer is awesome though.

No. There was a PCE port of Wonder Momo, by the way.

At one point I was going to suggest they add PC-FX games to their site but Tatsujin and el nino don't really seem to be into the PC-FX.
You're right, I don't even own a single PC-FX game, let alone the console. I still have a lot of things I want to implement or improve on the site that the thought of adding the PC-FX games to the database hasn't crossed my mind so far. But this doesn't mean I wouldn't be interested in it! The actual problem is that neither Tatsujin nor I do have the time at the moment to make a list of the all the games. Therefore, if someone is willing to help us out, please let us know.

I don't like the Momotarou games, I haven't managed to play each of the games for more than about 5 minutes (which includes a 3 minute piss). An exception is the Katsugeki game, the only one really worth purchasing if you're not collecting.

Yes.
I intend to give the platformer a try one day.
-
the katsugeki game is sweet- now if someone could break down the menus in that game- being that I can't read japanese- that'd be really helpful.

The users list though is 2 years out of date and there's no way to sign up and just add the games you get over time like a checklist.
