My JPN Duo plays fine with hucard game but has problem when playing CD-based game. Background music is hard to hear.
My friend told me that is because the Duo internal structure and overheating causes so. He mentioned that Duo-R and RX have no audio problem at all.
Does anyone have same problem as mine? :(

I have this same problem with my US Duo. For CD based games...volume is sometimes normal, or very low...and sometimes just not there with sound effects only. No problem with HuCards.
When I tried these same CD games on a brand new backup Duo everything was fine. It really annoys the hell outta me and I wish there was a fix.

I believe D-Lite has been looking at this issue for some time now...

D-Lite told me about the problem

If that's the case then hell, I'd rather just pick up the RX or R (since there's no region restriction for CDs) and have a native Turbo Grafx for playing the US HuCards. I wonder if this problem is year specific only plaguing early Duo releases? I have to go home and check the sticker on the bottom of my Duo cause I know the newer/boxed one I have was released/assembled a few years later.
If you can, look up the serial/year sticker on the bottom of your Duo and post the year is says. I'll post mine to see if there's any correlation we can maybe make.

Ok...
1. Old Duo with CD Audio Problems manufactured August 1992
2. New Duo tested without problems manufactured January 1993

I have a breifcase IFU-30 which is also tempermental, the connection the cd iunit makes to the interface isnt the most secure, knock it slightly and the audio usually might cut out of fuzz to death.
Biut dont knock it. It's clearly the coolest set up you can have:D

I kind wish I didn't have to sell my setup. :(
Due to the circumstance I had to sell my IFU-30 setup as will as PC Engine Duo. At least I do keep my mod'd SuperGrafx w/ SuperCD-ROM module...
