Title: Forgotten Worlds Controller?
Post by: Beld VanGuard on February 23, 2008, 06:27:40 AM
So I acquired a copy of Forgotten Worlds and recently got around to playing it, and the control scheme is....well fecking awful to say the least.

I read somewhere that there is a 3 button controller that makes the game much easier to play? I also heard the Ave 6 controllers (which I think I have 2 of, I don't see that name printed on them tho, but it's the 6 buttons with slow mo etc) do not work with the game. I haven't bothered to test it yet as I prefer the old style controller.

Does anyone know anything about this magical 3 button controller? Or at the least, an easier way to cope with those controls?

Thanks

There is a 3 button controller. 'button 3' is just mapped to select (or start, whatever).

it was included with the Japanese version, IIRC. I'd show you a picture, but google is unhelpful.

Ah Ave 3 and 6, ok.

Those work with US systems I assume?

Sort of. Let me explain:

you've probably only ever had a Turbografx. When TTI introduced the Duo, they decided to use the PCEngine controller port instead of the turbo one.

So if you have a Duo, you can use it without modification. If you have a Turbografx, however, you will need an adaptor.

There's a 3 button pad I like better than that official one, it's called the "Blaster". I use it for 90% of my Turbo gaming (the other 10% is fighters that I use the Ave 6 for).

I didn't think using the RUN button as a third button was that bad. Maybe you play with your thumbs instead of fingers like I do.

Doesn't the Avenue Six pad work for Forgotten Worlds?

It works, but you can't use Button III.

I don't have a problem playing FW on a two button pad and I use fingers to play. Its just like controlling the Genesis version to me. Of course, I also play SFIICE the same on a 2 button pad as with a 6 buttoner.

I have a Blaster as well. It's a decent pad. I've used it a lot recently, since it was the only pad I had lying around.
