This seller raises an interesting question: Is Meteor Blaster SE actually worth anything?

In 10 years, it might get that kind of price. But not today.
-
Isn't it worth like $30?
-
About that, yeah.
-
Someone should send him an offer of $30 then, lol. I bet he would be pissed
-
I offered $30 and it was declined immediately. Lameass.
-
 I'm glad you did it
-
Whatever else can be said about this seller, he did get one thing right: Ween rocks!
-

I think that's what I paid BT for mine, so I'd say that's about right.
I wonder how many copies of Meteor Blaster and Implode were made and how many were sold. They might be two of the rarest games on the TG-16, yet they're worth very little.
-
I have the non-signature edition of MB. But I'm pretty sure TZD (or MindRec? can't remember) was selling the signature edition for $29.99 as recently as a year or so ago.
-
The owners of TZD were good friends with bt garner. TZD was indeed selling MindRec's work up until the bitter end. The MindRec store still sells everything except the signature edition...they sold those out awhile ago. But they aren't worth squat above the cost of admission...they're custom-made to the client and therefore are very personal items. This would be kind of like assigning a value of $499 to your neighbor's favorite pair of underwear.
-
Yes, it's obviously not worth anything; I should have made my first post more sarcastic.
Anyway, the seller does an admirable job of hawking his wares and, of all the ridiculous price-fixing on ebay, I can't really blame the guy for trying. (When was the last time you saw of copy of MBDXSE??? :-s )
-
My SE title screen says "You eat the casserole!"

And the mystery of the $499 price tag is solved!

Rover, you should sell a few signed limited editions of Mysterious Song to pay for all the productions costs.

We're going to. :D

I hereby reserve an LE copy with exclusive rights to "You eat the casserole!"

For some crazy reason nobody snapped this gem up at $499, so now it's being auctioned off starting at $.99 (http://cgi.ebay.com/Meteor-Blaster-DX-Signature-Edition-54-100-Turbo-Duo_W0QQitemZ180236324393QQihZ008QQcategoryZ62053QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) (though likely with an exorbitant reserve price). Now's Rover's chance to see if his $30 offer was a good deal or not. :P

$250...I'll be damned. Someone just bought a copy of the game that broke my Duo for $250....
-
When I buy this copy of Meteor Blaster, it will go on display next to my Dodo bird.
-
Wow, that went for about five times what I thought it would. At least it wasn't snatched up by a reseller, assuming that's not a secondary account for one of those bums.
I didn't notice it before, but why does the disc have "PROMO" scrawled across the label?
-
I don't know. I have a lower number (#20) and mine doesn't say that. IIRC, the Signature Edition wasn't sold until after the normal release, so there's no reason any of them should be a "promo."
-
Mine doesn't say have "PROMO" written on it either.
Years from now, what stops anyone from scribbling any old thing on their insert and saying it's a "signature edition?" We gonna see faux-signature edition Mysterious Songs on Ebay after that game is released in 2034 (all in good fun you guys have done great work so far!)?
-
I'm already expecting to see bogus Mysterious Song copies showing up on eBay.
-
I plan on selling off my Beta copies in 2015 for $1,000 BIN, each. :D :P
-
I have a large collection of prototypes...I could easily sell them off now for a few hundred each. :D
