Title: Finally back in the PCE/Turbo scene!
Post by: OldSchoolGamer on April 07, 2008, 01:53:44 PM
Hey all. I have finally after over 3 years gotten back into the PC Engine/Turbo Grafx Scene. I was never a member of this site before(recently found out about it through bust3dstr8) but I used to collect for the Turbo Duo about 3 years ago. I was forced to sell my collection due to a personal issue and have been away from PCE/Turbo for about 3 years now. I have finally recently been able to get back into it thanks to good ole uncle sam and the Tax Returns!

I have bought:

-PC Engine Duo-R modded w/ S-vid/RGB/and Region Switch hookups and original controller...also came w/ 2 HORI Fighting Controller PC controllers

-Dracula X: Chi No Rondo...missing spine card

-Neutopia...complete

-Legendary Axe..missing cardboard box

-New Adventure Island...Hu card Only

-Hit the Ice.... Hu Card Only

-Splatterhouse.. Hu card Only

-Bonks Adventure..Hu Card Only

-Falcon...missing cardboard box

-Power Golf....complete

-Andre Kick Boxing...sealed

-Turbo Express...complete(going to send out to nat to get fixed as its got the video and sound issue)

-AC Adapter for Turbo Express...complete

-Car Adapter for Turbo Express...complete

-Turbo Link link cable for Turbo Express...new

I also have this ebay auction comming.. its for 31 more games if the seller sends(been 2 weeks already so I have my doubts...http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEBTOX:IT&item=170203084243&_trksid=p3984.cTODAY.m238.lVI

SO thats my new start back into the PCE/turbo grafx scene. I am pretty happy with everything and I am glad to be back. I am a huge fan of neo geo as well and have been a member of www.neo-geo.com (http://www.neo-geo.com/) since 2005 in good standing.

I cant wait to expand my collection even further!

PS.

NO, I am not the OldSchoolGamer from canada that does modding.

Your copy of Dracula X has no spine card?!?

Get the f*ck out of our forums!

That was a joke, btw. Sadly I have to explain these things or sometimes people go crazy. I wish that wasn't the case, but, you know...

Don't tell me you don't have a spine card either?

What is this place coming to?

Welcome aboard.  That's a damn nice restart to a collection; when you decided to get back into the Turbo, you definitely jumped in with both feet.

Don't tell me you don't have a spine card either?

What is this place coming to?

What the hell's a spine card?  :P

spine cards are waste of space & time, IMO. They're always falling out if you keep them in the manuals, and if you don't, they're taking up space elsewhere. They don't actually do anything but get in the way, which is why I've offered to give mine away to folks who want them.

For once, NEC really got it right in the US market by omitting spine cards.

Haha I am not a stickler about OBI cards myself. If it comes w/ an OBI card than i'll keep it..if it does not, I don't sweat it. All it really is, is the bar code for that said game.

I am loving my PCE/TG-16 stuff so far and this time...im going to make sure I don't ever need to sell again.

I throw away all obi for shear contempt of collectorism, which I consider a plague.

I'm pretty much on TG-16 restriction.  According to the wife, it's ok for me to buy golf clubs, digital cameras, tile the bathrooms, and pay cash for trips to Europe.  But $40 on a 15 year old video game and she gets cranky!  Ugh.

Sadly for me, past my current collection, I have to live vicariously through the Wii VC.

Ha! Same for me, for the past 2-3 years! I still buy stuff, but I've had to really restrict myself.

I don't want to go out and spend $100 at a bar w/ my friends. Why can't I be a curmudgeon, ignore my friends, and spend $20 on an old game instead?

 I just found out that the pc engine duo can play all pce hucards and all 7 super super grafx hucards. What about all pce/tg-16/duo cd roms on the cd part and is there a 3.0 arcade card built in the console like my super cd rom II that is attached to my core grafx?  8-[

Welcome aboard, HAR, HAAARRR, HAAAAAARRRRRR!

The PCE Duo can play all PCE HuCards (not American Turbo Chips though), but it cannot play Super Grafx HuCards, only the Super Grafx can do that. For CDs, it can play all of them (American or Japense, normal or SUPER) except Arcade Card CDs and Game Express CDs, which you will need the special HuCards for. There is no hardware with a built-in Arcade Card. If you're still confused, check out PCEFX's compatability guide (http://pcenginefx.com/main/nec_compatibility_guide.html).

Welcome back to the scene and have lots of fun again!

I put my spines and regs under the CD tray...

That's a good idea actually. For those who want to keep that stuff around, anyway.
