Came accross this neat magnifier while looking through my express/gt storage area.
Anyone know if this is an official nec product?

That's a funky way to pimp a GT; reminds me of a magnifying light that I once had for a OG Gameboy. I've never seen this one before, which leads me to believe that it's not a NEC product, though it's still cool. Does it work very well, or does it cause unacceptable distortion?

Wow, that's awesome. Never heard of that one before.
I agree with Necromancer-- while it's obviously designed specifically for the GT, it's doubtful it's a first-party NEC doodad.

It works as well as can be expected, about the equivilant of holding a TE 6 inches from your face, maybe like 1.5 magnification. Makes you really notice how aweful the resolution is...
-
BTW there are no other markings on it whatsoever.

They had about 10,000 different kinds of those things for the original GameBoy. I am amazed that the Turbo even gained enough attention to warrant somebody making something like that.

yo have the same wide GT. never used it tought.

Fascinating, never seen this before! Sure handheld magnify glasses aren't the best invention, it's still great to uncover obscured accessories like this (the PCE has a ton!). Looks professional enough to be official, but seems like it would've been more known if it was.
