Here's one out of complete nowhere. PSP is getting the "PC Engine Best Collection"
containing Yuna, Yuna 2, and Sapphire. Crazy!

Awesome. Equally awesome is the other PCE collection coming to the PSP. 8)

Impossible. the PSP is not powerful enough to emulate a PCEngine with Arcade card. [-(

hehe
It's pretty cool that Sapphire will be showcased.

Hey SuperDeadite...you have any more info on these? The release date when translated is July '06 ...typo, dead project?? I want these, but the order page doesn't translate, nothing on Playasia.
-
I hope these are legit and come with some kind of bonus features.
That Tengai Makyou collection would literally be the greatest single media gaming product of all time.

Not sure what your translator is doing, but the release date just says "7 month, 31 day." I don't see a year listed anywhere.
You can order the games directly from them with a credit card, so I assume this is real.

That game is going to be a bitch to play with that semi-cross Sony d-pad.

Anyone hear any new/concrete info?

Hey yeah this cool and all,but I doubt this be released outside of japan. And what would be the point in getting it.
-
Porbably won't be released outside of Japan...thats why you import. ;) As if any of these titles were released outside of japan the first time, so why bother playing em?

=P~ too bad I don't own psp :(

2 adventures and 1 shooter with no connection to the other put together in a collection doesn't make much sense to me, seems like they just took all the games for the PCE which started with 銀河 / ginga / galaxy, rofl! But even then they forgot about the Galaxy Fraulein HuVideo "game".

Maybe the character designs are all by the same artist, since they're pushing Sapphire's anime aspect over the shooting.

That's probably what it is, which would indicate Akitaka Mika I believe. I have a friend, of whom I haven't spoken to in quite some time, who got his Sapphire signed by the guy who did the artwork. I'll assume it was Akitaka Mika. He claimed that even HE didn't have a copy of Sapphire. Wish I was still in contact with him, to find out the truth. I do know Lords of Thunder was done by Shirow Masamune, creator of Appleseed & Ghost in the Shell, and you can deffinitly tell it's the same artist. When it comes to the Yuna games & Sapphire, I'd say there is indeed a resemblance between them.
-
Yes Akitaka Mika is the artist for both Yuna and Sapphire. Thats exactly why they are packaging these games togeather.
Really good marketing ploy actually. Yuna has a popular fanbase, so all the Yuna fans will buy it. Sapphire has great
appeal to the much smaller shooter fanbase, so they to will buy it. Plus people that like the artist will also buy it just for
the art. In a sense they have made something that will atract 3 very different groups of people while still recycling 3 old
games. Good business sense here.

If you don't own a psp, then just get a GP2X. A very awesome dev by the name of Exophase made a PC-Engine emulator called Temper from scratch, and already plays almost every game to near perfection. It also has Arcade Card support. I was a beta tester and have tested most of my own rips from originals with it in bin/cue format, and they work great. To save sd card space he even added a bin/cue to iso/ogg converter. It's the best way to play your cd games on the go, and you don't have to rebuy them. These psp releases are nice, but I don't really like buying games twice. If this got a US or UK release in English I'd definitely buy them. Either way it's nice to see the PC-Engine getting some love on the psp even if it's re-releases. Also has anyone played Tengai Makyo II on the DS? It's also a very nice port. Pretty spot on.
-
I think the price on these things is great. The GC, PS2, and DS ports of Tengai 2 cost 2000 yen more, and that was just one game. Of course those were "enhanced", but most all the enhancements were crappy anyway.
The Yuna and Sapphire collection is even more of a deal. You can get a PSP, and this collection for way less than just a copy of Sapphire.
-
Yo geise..I have The TM II port for the DS..thought I was the only one  Excellent port.
-
Anyone ever get either of the collections?
-
I haven't, however I do now own a psp. haha.
-
may be just gonna pick it up on my way home. let's see!
-
lol..just bought the PSP sapphire. or should i better say, got it for free. since it was only 25 bucks new, i could take it with my collected yamada denki points

so. finally after fullcharging the accu and firmupgrade to version 548.948.538.543 or so, i'm playin' sapphire on the PSP. it has three screen modes: original (size of a GBA screen ), zoom or fullscreen. of course the last two with big quality loss! but the BGM roxx without any losses!! :-({|=
but it's kinda fullemulation..even the loading time
also the rest of the game is 1:1 ACD!
btw: be warned, that this game can't be played on the old black PSP. not because it doesn't run on it, but because of the most terrible cross just possible!! thanx to you sony arseholes!! now i have to buy a slim because that! and who's gonna pay it?
-
Sony is getting as bad as Microsoft. Not good. [-X
