Title: World Sports Competition Records
Post by: kid_rondeau on May 24, 2008, 09:41:29 AM
Hi gang,
I was going to put this in the "high scores" section, but once you read on you'll see why it's more general than that.

Well, it's an Olympic year, so naturally I want to get into prime shape by playing lots of WSC with up to four friends (including my wife, who only plays so we'll have a fifth player...).

I have broken/obliterated every preset record on that game WITH THE EXCEPTION of the 110-Meter Hurdles.
This really bothers and confounds me. I am excellent at games like this, and I have tried time and time again to break that record, and the lowest time I've been able to get is 13.10s.

The record is 12.93. So, I was really only 0.17 seconds from it at my best.

Am I on crack here? Have any of you beaten the record? What's the secret? When, in relation to the hurdle, should you jump? As close to it as possible? Or as far away as possible? Or in the middle?

I have all the other factors down. I use "BUTTON 1 (AUTO)" for max speed (no jabs please, it's just business). I can hold the button at pretty much the exact same time as the starter pistol.

Anyway, any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Just an update here...
I've been practicing pretty intensely today. While I still haven't beaten the record of 12.93, I DID manage to get 12.98 once.

The frustrating thing is, I can't figure out what I did to run that much faster that time.

I am utterly awful at this game. Beating the records seems really hard. Granted, I haven't spent tons of time with it. I usually just play it to practice the shooting events.

I need to get this game because I love olympic video games. I've played a little of this on emulators before and it's fun.

This game kicks ass.  Someone should start a thread in the Hi-Scores discussion.
