If you went back in time to run a videogame publisher, what games would you publish?
remember, you're small fry, so you can't:
afford games from the big guys (like Hudson, Konami, Capcom, or Namco).
publish more than 5 games a year (even less if those games require a lot of translating and voice acting).
publish games that eventually got released in the US IRL.
only games released in the previous year on pce
What games would you have brought over?

PCE Giana Sisters!
-
Neo Metal Fantasy
Necross
Sylphia
Cosmic Fantasy 3, 4's
Valis IV
Legend of Xanadu I & II
-
Atomic Robo-Kid & Gomola Speed, UPL's games.
-
Hey ccovell, don't forget to publish Mahjong Haoden Kaiser's Quest here too. Of course, I'm probably the only person who would want it.
Hmmm, I think I'll just work for Black Tiger at his company. Sounds like my kind of place!

Anearth Fantasy Stories
Xanadu 1
Xanadu 2
Tengai 1
Tengai 2
Tengai Kabuki-den
High-Leg Fantasy
Sol: Moonarge
Sorcerian
Valkyrie No Densetsu
Gulliver Boy
-
North America needs more boobies, so I would have brought over Lady Sword, Hi-Leg Fantasy, Strip Fighter 2, Steam Heart's, and the three Dragon Knight titles.
-
I would have brought over all of the Mahjong games.
-
pooled all resources for one game:
Ys IV

Haha, right on. I would've also liked to see Dragon Slayer and Cosmic Fantasy sequels make it out here.
I would get Dodge Danpei.
-
I think i would have publish most of,NEO-GEO ports beside getting the arcade card released here.

I agree. Basically, the Arcade Card should have been brought over along with all the ACD games. The TG absolutely no fighting games...well besides Fighting Street. I honestly can't think of any others. More fighting games = more units sold. If TTI could have advertised the Neo Geo ports, sales would have likely gone up. The Duo would have got a lot more attention here in North America if they were advertising games like Sapphire.
...oh, the bittersweet of "what ifs"...

Don't forget my personal favorite: Godzilla.

Oh yeah! I can't remember if I rented that for the TG or the NES BITD. :-k

People are generally wary of hardware upgrades, which the Arcade Card technically is. You'd really have to focus on other titles in an attempt to boost the popularity of the system before it would have been even remotely practical to address the ACD and ACD games.

Turbo/PCE fans embraced the CD-ROM and later the Super CD format.
Tengai 1
Tengai 2
Tengai Kabuki-den
Sol: Moonarge
Valkyrie No Densetsu
Gulliver Boy
the Neo Geo ports

PCE fans did. In the US I don't know how well those upgrades went over. I had them, sure, but my video game tastes aren't, and I'm not sure ever were, mainstream.
-
Oh boy there is one single game I would have love to seen published and that is Macross Do you remember Boy did I love the Japanese Version. Ive beat it a few times. Back in the day the game was slated for US release. I wish it had happened
-
Downtown Nekketsu Monogatari?
We got a bunch of their other games.... they weren't so big (they went out of business three years after the PCE release). The PCE one was a remake anyhow, so I don't count the NES version. If I were porting it, I could adjust the annoying volume of the sound effects, and the shoddy recording quality of the music.
-
Perhaps something like 21 Emon or Victory Life (or Dragon Half if it wasn't to pricey to obtain the rights), we never had those kind of board games translated.
-
Ooo... I could go in for Dragon Half.
-
Naxat Soft's Double Dragon II. I thought this was a great port/remake. Also, this is a rare PCE CD title and costs over $100 in most cases.
I still think NEC completely goofed by not releasing SF II:CE in the US with the 6 button pad. What made it worse is how much buzz it got in US game mags before coming out in Japan. The Neo Geo ports would have been nice, especially at the time when the Fatal Fury animes came to the US. There is a Fatal Fury Special for the Sega CD advertisement on one of the VHS tapes. I think it was for Fatal Fury: The Motion Picture out of the 3 released.
