How do you get photographs of fireworks?

put my digicam on a stativ, set the night scenary mode (keeps the lens open till enough light is collected, means of several seconds) and shot when the big bangs are arising into sky :) did that the first time, and the result looks quite good, since it's just a $300 play'n shot digicam.
