I was wondering if there is anywhere I can get a PS2 system, preferably the slim kind with a mod chip to play Japanese games and backups already installed.

how can you have backups on the slim (HDDless) PS2?

You burn a disk and put it in the system and it plays...... Anyhow Golgo if you don't already know about this you can setup a FreeMC Boot memory card that can do what you want. That is assuming you just want to play ps2 games and japanese imports. They've not yet found a way to play ps1 backups without doing some sort of swap trick but it's coming (I think). Basically all you'd have to do is mod a memory card and it'll work in a slim or phat and you'd be able to play both ps2 backups and imports without having to find a chipped ps2....

I use swapmagic for jp games and backups. No problem here and they don't require any hard modifications to your system.
