You own a time machine? It happened friday... >_<

Man. All those people in that picture waiting in line to shop should be lined up and punched in the face.  You gotta be really selfish and coldhearted to just want to buy crap.

at WALMART.    Going to Wal Mart to catch sales is like using coupons at a thrift store

This is a really sad turn of events. The man was only 34 years old, working part time to buy gifts for loved ones on the holidays. What a waste of a life. :(

Yup. What's crazy is that they opened the store again a few hours after it happened. They should've shut it down for a few days at least to punish the filthy savages with Wal-Mart withdrawals.

Another case of Long Island Douchebags.  Take it from me, or ask anyone from the NY area.

It is true.  Name one thing in the world more important than money.  One thing.  Can't be done.  Air?  Nope.  We'll gladly pollute that for money.  Love?  Yeah, right.  Precious human life?  LOL@u.  Cuddly babies?  Goodness no.  There are more of them these days than grains of sand.  Completely valueless.

The part of the story that I read where they announced the closure of the store because of the death and people were shouting "but we have been waiting in line since 3AM" absolutely sickens me, and makes me embarrassed of living in this country. I saw a 60 second review of this story on the news yesterday, and I was stunned with how it wasn't made into a big deal. I mean they said it was tragic, interviewed the guys father, but then just moved onto the next story. The media makes a big hype about all kinds of sh##, like how Palin wasn't qualified to be a VP, but then some guy gets trampled who is just trying to make a living by the same idiotic people that stormed the walmarts last year, and who gives a rip?

Someone needs to hold Wal-Mart AND The stupid people that trampled this poor guy accountable! There was no cops or security to be found when the whole thing went down. What the hell is wrong with this country? I mean these people were having Thanksgiving meals the night before, and then the next day they kill some guy just to save a few bucks?

It is going to be quite hard for the NYPD to indentify the hundreds in that crowd dude.

They should just round 'em all up and shoot 'em. I mean, I go to Wal-Mart occasionally, but I'm not the type of person that camps out at 3AM in front of the store to get a better deal on a f*cking Hannah Montana CD or whatever. I'll bet there wasn't one worthwhile person in the bunch.

Okay, I'll give them a little break. Shoot them all in the kneecaps. At least that way maybe they won't be as good at trampling in the future.

What a bunch of sad f*cks.  Why give a shit about some dude when you can save $20 on some piece of junk, shitty picture, no name LCD that'll likely be die before years end?  ](*,)

There were thousands of stores with similar throngs of people and this was the only one were someone was killed, so I don't see how it was foreseeable (making Walmart liable).

in defense of the crowd, in a crowd that size, the people in back can't see what's going on up front, and if you're up front, trying to oppose the crowd behind you is suicide. This happens at concerts every once in a while - people in back pushing forward, trying to get in, while the people up front are either suffocated to death by being pushed against a door that won't give way, or stampeded over when it finally does give way and they fall.

it's called "if you have 2000 people lined up outside to enter the store, make sure you spend the money to have proper security to man the crowd." And maybe upgrade your doors to auto open instead of some poor fool unlocking only to get trampled on, and have the little "rollback guy" running around the store like a horse race to show the savages which way to run to get the deals.

Wrong.  Hundreds of similar occurrences have passed without someone being killed, so Walmart shouldn't be held liable for this stupidity as if it were a guaranteed result of them having a sale.  The only people to be blamed are the douche bags that stepped over the poor guy as he died.

you don't think stores should be responsible to make sure security and safety plans are in place for high volume shopping??? I am not saying Walmart is responsible for the death of the guy, but what about making sure customers and employees are safe? Last year Walmart had some mad rush trampling, but no one killed. When are they going to make shopping safer for everyone?

I am not saying Walmart is responsible for the death of the guy...

But that's exactly what you said: "Someone needs to hold Wal-Mart...accountable!"  I refute that notion and hold that they provided a comparatively safe environment (considering nobody died at their thousands of other locations, it couldn't have been inherently unsafe).

sorry if I wasn't clear, what I meant by accountable is having proper security measures in place, not accountable for the actual death. Unfortunately no one is going to be pinned with that one with bad surveillance videos.

1) when this happens at concerts, organizers are regularly arrested; it's their responsibility to deal with the crowds they attract to their shows. I don't know why wal-mart should be different.

2) as I said before, if thousands of people are pushing you through a narrow opening, you either keep moving or you die. if someone gets crushed beneath your feet while you're trying not to die, you aren't responsible.

If you say so.  I don't recall any concert tramplings outside of The Who in Cincinnati in the early 80's.

True enough, but that doesn't explain them proceeding to shop as if nothing had happened and getting pissed when they're told to get out.

All they need to do is station one employee outside with a megaphone telling the crowd to get in a single file line and enter slowly. If they won't do it, refer them to the trampling death news stories. If they still won't do it, spray the white trash bastards down with a f*cking fire hose.

Of course, if these idiots could do math, and realize that if they worked a few more hours instead of standing in line for two days, they would make more money than they saved...

Does anyone besides me remember when Christmas was about compassion, family, and remembering the important things in life? *sigh*

Michael Ironside is as tough as nails, and has the power to rip your mind apart or destroy you psychically with his thoughts. He could never be trampled to death. Only Immortals, giant bugs, and Douglas Quaid can kill The Ironsider, and Quaid can only do it if the fight is on Mars. A giant crowd of Walmartians, let alone 5 gazillion crowds of them, would simply never stand a chance.

Yeah, no horde of Walmart zombies could touch The Ironside. He'd glare them to death. Only Chuck Norris teamed up with Darth Vader and the Sasquatch in the Batmobile could take out the Old Man.
