is this an easy fix?

What exactly do you mean by loose disk slide? I haven't heard of ps2s having that problem before. If the tray isn't holding it in place or something like that just replace the tray.

TRAY...that's what i mean... it's all noisy when it pops out...are they easy to replace ? thanks

They're not horrible to replace, but I think that noise it makes when it comes out is normal.... Actually the hardest part might be finding a new tray to replace it with.

All of the early fat ps2 models had a noisy tray, and come out all slow and chunkily (like v1-v5 or so) After a while they introduced a new revised fat model (somewhere around v7 maybe?), which took out the firewire port, had quieter fans, had an ir port built in and a much quieter and smoother moving tray, among other small internal changes. If you have a very early model fat ps2 then i would suggest getting a newer one anyways if the drive bothers you as just replacing the tray in these models will not solve the problem likely. You might even have to replace the entire drive assembly, and honestly with the cost of a ps2 nowadays, I wouldn't even bother, either live with it or buy a new one.

You could always replace the top of your ps2 with one of those swap disc pop tops. I seen them for sale for like $15 in the past.
