yep…games you wish that had a 2 player cooperative option... so many good games & with a co-op option it just might have made it even better… For the TG16, Duo or the PCE i want to know what games you wish had that 2 player option?...
For me hands down it would be Riot Zone and Forgotton Worlds for the DUO, both of these games i dig a lot and a 2plyer option would have been dandy!!! The Genny had a 2 player option for Forgotten , a shame the duo did not :(... also Bonks Adventure would have been a cool 2 player co-op... 2 bonking brothers helping each other out !!! :P
PS: for a Two Player sorta option (mixed play) for Forgotten Worlds (in case you dont know)…
When the title screen reads "Push Run Button," hold down the I and II buttons and press RUN to reveal this option. In the "mix play" mode, Player one controls the main character and Player two controls the "satellite" weapon. Use the I and II buttons to rotate the satellite, and press any direction on the control pad to fire. (got this info from DP)

I like 2PS shooters. Aero Blasters handled 2 players excellently, including all the bullets and missiles on-screen. It also had some neat combo-attacks. If other TG shooters had allowed for that it would have kicked buttocks.
2PS on Ninja Spirit would also have been cool, even if they would have had to have limited the number of shadows that could be on-screen or follow any one player.

+1 on Riot Zone, Forgotten Worlds, and Bonk's Adventure (as well as Bonk's Revenge). I'd add Last Alert, Camp California, Hatris, Implode, and Air Zonk / Super Air Zonk (the second player would control Zonk's friend, starting at the beginning of the level of course).

Drop Off, Deep Blue, Magical Dinosaur Tour, Impossamole, Cosmic Fantasy 2, Darkwing Duck, Talespin, JB Harold Murder Club....no seriously. Bloody Wolf(though, I like how they made the game twice as long compared to the arcade game), Last Lert, Ninja Warriors, Ninja Spirit, Gradius, Gradius 2, Parodius, Liquid Kids, China Warrior, Dragon Spirit, Exile 2, Forgotten Worlds, Hero Tonma, Raiden, Riot Zone, Vigilante, Sidearms, Tiger Road, & probably plenty more.

At the most bloody wolf since the arcade version was 2p.I all ways find it weird to take a run'n'gun game and port it without the 2p.
-
For some reason I keep wanting to say Space Harrier!
Yeah Riot Zone had no excuse for not having two players. J.J. and Jeff would've been sorta cool two players, but I don't think it would've worked out well. I used to be bummed about a lot of Turbo games lacking two (or more) co-op play, but I don't think about it much anymore.
Four player Cadash would've been awesome, in a cheesy sort of way!
-
I wish they added a second port to the Turbo grafx 16 system itself. Find it ironic they add games where two players co-op yet require an additional product (Turbotap) to achieve just that.

no pce game it is

Yes, definitely Bloody Wolf. One of the few things I don't like about the Turbo/PCE is the single controller port.

Multi-player Ys. One as Adol, one as Dogi :)

I think that a 2 player co-op Space Harrier could be pretty cool. :) Planet Harriers does it... although with 2 screens.
-
I vote this one as the best suggestion yet! Or maybe even be one of the goddesses during some parts of the game.
Also - for multi-player Bonk, Bonk 3 had a 2 player mode. I know I know, not as good as the first two, but the 2 player is what sort of made it different from the other titles.

I always thought it would've been awesome if Ys IV allowed a second player to control the tag along characters you get in the game. Would kinda be like the Legend of Xanadu games.
-
R-type! one could control the r-9, the other controls the pod!
in fact, all tg16 shmups should be at least 2 player. Even deep blue; misery loves company.
-
Two player Deep Blue would be laugh fest! For some reason though, I can't imagine the Thunder games being as fun with two players, not really sure why.
-
now that would be sweet. one person could aim guns to the right, and one to the left. Would need the difficulty to be increased alot tho.

Any platform game where one person controls movement and the other person controls jumping would be a real laugh.

I'm pretty sure I've recreated that scenario before a couple times with two people on one controller. :P
-
Final Zone II would have been cool with coop. A vs. mode in FZ II would have been cool as well - even up to 5 players. Sort of like Wizards of Wor, but top down Final Zone II style. I just think coop mode would have made sense with this game since there were a bunch of characters to choose from.
...unless this game actually is coop....
-
Final Zone would indeed be a lot more fun as two player co-op, especially if you could get into bitch slap contests. Gotta love that game - watch your mouth or I'll slap ya again beeyotch!
Magical Dinosaur Tour
f*ck Yeah!!!
-
Would a multi-tap allow this in 1 player games?

Would a multi-tap allow this in 1 player games?
Uh, no. A relatively simple controller hack would get the job done, though I can't see it being worth the effort. Sure it'd be funny for a few moments, then it'd just be as frustrating as all get out.
-
My thoughts exactly. If the tap worked sweet, but not worth hacking a controller to do that.

In Aero Blasters you can start a two player game and control both ships with a single controller. I used to do that all the time. It let's you take advantage of the super-powerful screen-blast you can do by having both players charge and release simultaneously. Also doubles your firepower.
It was the way I first managed to beat the game.
-
Hahaha, that's awesome. I'm going to try that.

You mean one of these?

Anyone who's never run a Duo Tap through an "extension cord" before should try it out.
-
Nat, let me know what you think of the game after playing it with twice the firepower :)
BTW, level 2 is, in some ways, harder with this trick.

Magical Dinosaur Tour
f*ck Yeah!!!
Imagine the possibilities!! That game would rock so much harder with a 2nd player on board!!! :-"

I can think of another,Side Arms even when it was released again on cd it lacked the 2p for wich the arcade version had.
Enjoyed that shooter so much i wish i could have played,it with a friend back then.

Good call! Side Arms would be sweet with co-op.
