Title: WTB: SNES to Super Famicom Converter
Post by: hoobs88 on February 22, 2009, 02:02:27 PM
Looking for a SNES to Super Famicom Converter. If anyone has one for sale or knows where I could purchase one, let me know. I would greatly appreciate it!

Hoobs,

so you want to play SNES on SFC? hmmm ok I dont think this is as easy as the reverse since I think the SFC carts are slightly larger. So I guess you will need an adapter.

Yep. Duo_R is right. The SNES carts are larger then the SFC cart slot.

So your choices that I'm aware of are:

- need an adapter
- make your own adapter
- cut the cart slot on the SFC to fit SNES carts

If you want to play SFC on SNES you just need to cut the small plastic tabs inside the cart slot and it will work.

I guess I mislabeled the subject. I want to play SFC on my SNES. I have seen some converters for $20 to $30 on ebay but there aren't any available right now. If all I have to do is cut the insert tabs, I probably won't need the converter. I just wasn't sure if there was a pin difference or size difference between the SFC and the SNES. Thanks for your help guys!

Oh you've got it easy then  :D All you have to do is carefully cut out those two tabs! No adapter is needed.

The link that jperryss posted should help you through the modification.

Yeah, on a SNES, this is your adaptor (you only have to use it once):

On a SFC I've only ever seen people use adaptors, or gutting the cart and just playing the bare PCB.

I have an FC Twin that I plan on breaking the tabs off.  It plays SNES and SFC games perfectly to the originals.  (The NES side not so perfect).  I wanna do this on the FC so that I don't have to permanently break something off the SNES.

oh ok, initially that is what I though you meant but then edited my original post. Yeah you are in luck, that is dead easy. I actually have something similar to a game genie that would do the trick, but just break off the tabs.
