Title: PC-FX intrest from article EDGE magazine 11
Post by: RCduck7 on May 10, 2005, 08:19:23 AM
Hi there.

I dunno much about the PC-FX and maybe i make fool out of myself for asking but i have stumbled across an article of EDGE magazine 11 from UK 1994 (with a playstation on the cover) wich featured the upcoming PC-FX.

The two following 3D games caught my intrest:

1) FX Fight or FX fighter

Virtua Fighter style of game wich used shaded polygons and looked good for that time.

2) A 3D adventure on a spaceship ( they still didn't had a name for it) starring a sailor moon style character.

Can't find info of that fighting game so i guess it's cancelled or they may changed it's name.
And what is the name of this 3D adventure if it still excists?

I'm 80% certain I have this issue of Edge.  If I do I'll scan the pages and put that on the upcoming website.

The screenshots you saw were also published in some Japanese magazines (PC Engine fan july 1994, PC Engine Capsule #? Mook, etc.)

Some of these screenshots have been debated for a long time and the TurboList and other places have some discussions on it.

The "virtua fighter" screenshots are "cinema demos", most likely, and were not playable (it's doubtful that this game would have been made).

I'm not sure about the other Adventure game, though.

While were at it do you mind if i ask something about a playstation game that featured in that magazine?
I know it's a bit off topic but it's hard to know something about that matter, even on the net!

Before the release of the playstation the hyped and anticipated "Legend" or "Labyrinth" game wich featured on a Japanese television show and wowed the crowd for it's 3D capabilities featured a dragon in a mazelike fortress.
At least from what i have read and seen on the screenshot.
I don't find anything on the net about it so i guess it was just a demo to show off.
At that time i didn't have a very high intrest in videogames, otherwise i should have known about it.
I was suprised when i looked in some old magazines how many games that were listed and most even almost to completion that were never released!
Shame, shame...

Ok, found the name on that adventure game but no review or the amount of japanese in the game to judge it is playable or not.

It's called:

Team Innocent

I used to have it, it's playable.  I got about halfway through it before I got bored out of my skull, the game pretty much sucks balls.  But if you happen to enjoy it you won't have any problems playing through it, it's like a really basic Resident Evil style game.

Thanks for the info.

I guess in the days of the 3D revolution eveything was good in some way as it was a new experience.

Time will tell as always.  :D
