Title: Adol: Nice guy or womanizer?
Post by: Black Tiger on April 07, 2009, 02:50:28 PM
I just listened to the Ys III soundtrack and when Elena says something like "Oh Adol, someday I know I will get to see you again. Some day..." I laughed out loud and thought "Yeah right!"

It also reminded me of a recent YouTube comment on my Ys II Eternal ending video:

Quote
so memorable.
but it's a pity he failed in his first love.

Do most people think that Adol's a nice guy who's only so quiet because he's shy and that he had genuine romantic relationships with the heroine's of the Ys games? If he did find "love" in Ys I & II, who was he supposed to be in love with? Lilia or Feena (or Lair or any of the other women he listened to a line or two of dialogue from)?

Does anyone think that he traveled the world like Kabuki*, banging every chick he met that he didn't kill? As far as they imply "romance" in the Ys games, it seems that there's a different special lady for him in each of the first three games. And that ending in Dawn of Ys with Lilia and her kids but no Adol looks like he continued to come and go from her life as he pleased (just as he did between Ys II & IV) and she continued to get suckered. The closest thing they have to a father is the stories she makes them listen to.

For those you who aren't familiar with Kabuki Danjuro, he's this guy-

I've always thought that Adol's love is the innocent, virgin variety.

He wants to get to the next stage, but he hasn't yet, for whatever reason.

You see, Adol spends so much time dungeon crawling and traipsing across the countryside that he really hasn't had time to be intimate with any ladies  (or guys, for that matter).

Tender moments? Yes.
Light kissing? Yes.
Bumping and grinding? No.

OH DEAR LORD WE ARE HEADING INTO DANGEROUS FAN FICTION TERRITORY!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO......

;)

Personally, I think he gets off about leaving the women all hawt and bothered. It's most likely a fetish. Remember, you can never trust a red haired person.

More serious: I basically always thought that whatever "feelings" any of the various girls might've had for Adol, he never got attached and as soon as they turned their back after his work was done he took off like the Littlest Hobo. 8)

I actually once proposed a theory that Adol Christin was in fact gay. Why else do you think he constantly leaves women to sail off for endless nights with his close companion Dogi? ;)

I hear that one alot though it's not hard to think that.It does make you wounder unless adol suffers from so much lust to have a adventure,he forget's these women fancy him.

I voted: He's a playa. I'm sure he bones all these hos before he leaves. He is probably leaving to get away from them and bone some new hos.

I always approve of Littlest Hobo references.

I still have to start my Ys quest.

Adol is clearly a playa.  Find 'em, f*ck 'em, flee 'em; a good mantra to live by.

Makes sense, just like Sonic with his whole "attitude", finger waving and thumb over the shoulder "hop on" gesture,  effeminate boy pal Tails... all the while shunning Amy who has a crush on him. PC Genjin prances around picking flowers, growing more and more "queer" as he "eats meat". Mario is a mustached twin of the Village People leather daddy figure/Blue Oyster clientel. Maybe it's a japanese formula for male game characters. :P

Adol is a virgin, and a gentlemen, and that's it. Get over it, folks.

Oh yeah: Necro, meet me down by the Roda tree. I have something I want to show you.
