Title: I owe all my PC-Engines an apology.............
Post by: ikobo on May 10, 2009, 02:24:02 AM
For a long time now i've had all my engines hooked up to a plasma, just pulled an old CRT out of a cupboard to see just what the difference would be. Jesus H Christ, it's like having a new console, the games look stunning. Been sat here for two days now just loading stuff up to see how it looks! Now need to start checking for sale ads to find a bigger CRT..........................

I miss the Old CRTs, but playing the games through emulators (magic engine) on an LCD does look passable.  8)

I've just been online trying to find a decent sized brand new CRT, you just can't buy them any more!

you can pick up amazing quality second hand CRTs for next to nothing, my mate got a mint 32" Sony Wega HD 100hz with matching stand for £20.

Thrift stores dude.

The ones around here have the old console TVs that look like wooden furniture for 20$ lol

HD crt's will still make older consoles look like crap.

Depends on the TV... my 36" Sony Wega Hi Def CRT has never given me any issues with oler consoles.  BEAUTIFUL image quality.

I have a 53" HD Hitachi and it makes any old consoles look like crap. It line doubles the res so they look block. Eww. No good. I have a little 20" SDTV CRT to play my old systems on (or emulators that have filters close to a real SDTV).

Yeah hard to find, but some TV's can do both properly.  My 29'' Sony Triniton has true SD as well as true 750p and 1125i. It's the only TV I've had that accepts true RGB.  Only problem is that it can only take an RGB signal through the Sony AV-Multi Out port.  I need to make custom cables for it.
