If you could only own one PC Engine HuCard, what would it be? Not so much from the perspective of a collector (rarity) but as a gamer. I just got a PC Engine Duo and want one representative HuCard, but have no idea what to get. I can't read japanese, if that helps. HuCards!

Bonk's Revenge.

Bonk's Revenge.
Good choice, but I'm inclined to get Gate of Thunder at some point, and it will already be on there.

It depends what you like to play, Soldier Blade,Gunhead or Final Blade would be my picks.

You want something that's exclusively japanese?
Photograph Boy

Gate of Thunder is a cd, not a hucard

I love these questions.
I would break it down into genre:
RPG: Neutopia II
Action: Ninja Spirits
Adventure: Legendary Axe (or Legendary Axe II)
Platformer: Bonk's Revenge
Sports: HAHAHAHA!!
Shooter: Soldier Blade
Other: Bomberman '93
Out of all of these titles I would recommend Bonk's Revenge as a must have. If you have a Turbo Tap and friends to play then Bomberman '93 is also a must. The others are great but these two are just a cut above.
Also, I believe that the Japanese copy of Gate of Thunder is just the game, not the same as the one included on the pack in...am I wrong?
[EDIT]
I forgot about Cadash, throw that in there with Legendary Axe. Also Dungeon Explorer. I mention it because it is a staple Turbo game.
Also, easily worth the cost of the adapter is Street Fighter II Champion Edition. Oh sure there have been better versions released on other systems since then but the Turbo version is awesome non the less.

Splatterhouse"pc-engine is uncensored",Vigilante,Cadash,Dungeon Explorer, many wonderful shooters, heck, you cant limit it to just one you silly fool!!!!

I think he meant in the sense that he planned to pick up the US Gate of Thunder 4 in 1 disc that has Bonks Revenge (along with Bomberman, Bonks Adventure and Gate of Thunder) on it.
-
I'd say Soldier Blade. I've bid on it a few times, but always end up losing it. :)
-
Splatterhouse, hands down. Its the reason I bought a Turbo Grafx in the first place. Bonks Revenge is perfect. Soldier Blade rules...Dragon Spirit is good for a hard-ass shooter. Basically close your eyes and point and a game and you won't be dissapointed
-
That is unless you point at Ballistic, then you might want to close your eyes and point again....:-)

meh, even then...I had fun with Ballisitic....for....awhile. Okay, you're right...point again.

Just picking 1 seems to hard but I think I can narrow it down to 5.
Galaga '90
Blazing Lazers
Devil's Crush
Ninja Spirit
Bonk's Revenge
-
Possibly Devil's Crush since you can never get tired of that game.
-
Bloody wolf would also be a good choice
I could never pick just one tho

Thanks guys I went with Vigilante. Partially because I like the game (fast paced, good grafx ) but also because of the sweet case art on the PCE version, and the fact that its volume 1 of all Hucards.

You know what's funny, I was disappointed by this game back in the day. I paid good money for it and it didn't deliver. It was O.K., but that's it. It's one of those times when you KNEW you should have picked another game, but it's too late and you're stuck with the decision you made.
Recently, though, I pulled Vigilante out and I'm actually having some fun playing it. I forgot how kool the music was! The controls still aren't that great, but it is fun.
IMHO, don't use the turbo switches, it really kills any fun Vigilante has to offer.

Yeah I had the same experience. We considered it to be kind of a joke compared to "real" beat em ups, but its aged pretty well by comparison. Irem seems like a hit and miss developer but there is some nice hits in there. I hadn't considered not using the turbo switches, but I'll give it a shot.
