Do it. Changing votes is OK as I'm still thinking about this myself and I need to buy Super Bonk again. I just received the NES cart yesterday and that got me thinking about this.
EDIT: Note that you get TWO VOTES
-
Bonk's Adventure (hu). It is thee original, and it has the most originality imo.
-
I don't vote in most of these polls because I usually haven't played most of the games to make a judgment. But, I did want to note that I never knew there was a Bonk's Adventure arcade =P~ Was it any good?
-
i would also go with pc genjin 1 for its originality! it's also the one i've played the most.
-
yup the first one... I just like the easy relaxing vibe I get from it
-
Anyone who votes for the Amiga one should be banned on sight.

I was just going to do a NEC/Nintendo system match up but included the obscure stuff to see if there's any fans out there.

I've heard good things about it but I don't use any emulators so I don't know. Every few years someone pokes around trying to find one to buy and they seem almost nonexistent. There's some information here: http://bonkzonk.com/

I've played everything but the GC/PS2 and cellphone games. Bonk's Revenge is still the best overall for me, but all the Turbo/PCE Bonk's are great.
-
Can someone tell me more about PC Genjin (PS2/GC)? I hadn't heard of this one. Is it worth hunting down and will it play on a US Wii?
-
it's imo not worth. check yuotube for vids.

No. You might be able to get it to work with a boot disc or something like that, but out of the box, it won't work.

There is one Bonk game missing from the list, there was a 3rd Bonk game for GB in Japan. It's actually some wierd collection of minigames, I have it, but, haven't really played thru it much since it's in japanese. Anyways, Bonk's Revenge(Turbo) is the best. The arcade game ain't so great, however, I have plans for it, if we ever convert it to the Turbo. Also, don't be surprised if another Bonk shows up for the Turbo, I want to say more, but, I can't, especially since it isn't a for sure thing.

Oops, I forgot that one GB import.
Revenge has better graphics but I don't like what they did with the play control.
A new Bonk would be sweet but my hope for more Turbo homebrews is pretty dim these days, especially ones for actual hardware. BT hasn't updated anything other than his store inventory for three years and Mysterious Song has been 90% complete for as long as I've been on these boards.

I voted for Bonk 3 HuCard and CD, as they're the bestest. Anyone that thinks otherwise is just wrong.
-
I voted Revenge as it was IMO a big upgrade from Adventure- as for Bonk III I just don't feel that it added enough other than the co-op and the pipe traveling to be a significant upgrade from Revenge- especially for an 8 meg cart.
These other Bonk games I haven't played- but regardless the honors should go to a PCE/TG title- as this system is Bonk's true home :)

I went with Adventure and Bonk 3 CD. I like the little vs. mode on the CD and, although the music isn't necessarily better than the HU, it's just plain weird and unlike the other games. It's been years since I've played Super Bonk, but I remember it continuing the trend started in #3 with less action and too much slow-moving, boring stuff trying to be humorous. I picked up Super Bonk 2 a few months ago and it plays like a lame Nintendo-ized Yoshi game full of annoying blocks instructing me in how to play the game while I'm trying to play (like Yoshi's Story, Mario World, N64 Zelda, etc.). Save that crap for the manual! Bonk on the 8-bit NES isn't that bad but I don't like what they did with the bosses. The last one I've played with Revenge on the SuperGameboy but it's doesn't hold my interest.

When I say "new" Bonk, it's new to the Turbo, but not necessarily a brand new game(though I do have plans for a true brand new Bonk that are coming along nicely). Basically, I want to put every unique Bonk game that never made it to the Turbo, on the Turbo! I want all the GB's, the SNES's, & the arcade, all in modified form for improvement, on the Turbo! I recall the first 2 GB Bonk's feeling more like the Turbo Bonk's compared to the SNES ones. So, if/when they would be converted, not much would change, other then graphical upgrades, & fast spinning. The SNES ones, for one thing, I want them to play like Bonk 2 but with faster spinning. Also, the music, especially in SB1, I would make sound more like Bonk music. Bonk music relies alot on rhythm & basslines, the first SNES game does not do this at all, atleast, not in the right direction. There's a few goofy songs that would stay the same. Also, alot of the sounds from the Turbo Bonks, I'd want in SB1, like the tube sound in Bonk 3 for instance. Also, I want to brighten the gfx, the game is too dark for a Bonk game!
In regards to SB2, the only place I recall where you play thru a level with things telling you how to play the game, is the training level which is totally optional, you can skip that level & play the real game! I'd still want to make some gameplay enhancements to it though.

the original Bonk has a very eerie-like atmosphere that was changed to cartoony mischief in every other game....
anyone else feel that way?
-
Eerie? Not to me :-k

The same enemies appear in the later games, the tunes are equally jaunty, and the backgrounds/levels are very similar to some of those in the other titles, so it doesn't feel that way to me at all.

I can't put my finger on it, but something about the first game does feel a bit 'darker' to me also.

the newer games all bust out way more cartoony elements than the first game.
especially Bonk 3, and Super Bonk.

Bonks Adventure, it's the flagship

Actually, I think Super Bonk 2 has got to be the wackiest! I think that's one of the things that makes me like that game, even though there are things I don't like about it. :-k

teH Amiga. :-& nat, Joe, you have to ban me now according to Arkhan.

The Amiga version is really that bad, uh? Pictures I saw looked good (doesn't mean much, of course).
I've been playing Super Bonk 2 some more and it's really pretty good. Way better than SB1. It probably has the best Bonk music I've heard and the graphics show a fresh infusion of originality while staying within the realms appropriate for a sequel. Most importantly, the action flows a lot better than SB1 (it's worst fault, imo) and even Bonk 3. I have to think about it some more, but I may be changing my second vote.
-
Yeah, Super Bonk 2's music is awesome, although, I wish there were more tracks. When/if I ever help port it to the Turbo, I'll flesh out the music more so there's variety. Some tracks are used just way too often, & then the last world, IIRC uses the same track in each level, it get's tiring. I would also like to speed up the spin, change some sound effects, & make it so that when you divebomb some distance up, you DONT get stuck in the ground, that's one of my biggest gripes. Graphically, I think it actually would be easier to port to the Turbo then Super Bonk 1. The paralax is just one layer in almost ever level, & all the levels are more straightforward, & the paralax is more repetitive(less unique tiles) or atleast so it seemed. Also, it has even less mode 7 stuff then the first game. Infact, the last boss could've easily used mode 7, but didn't! It's actually something that could be done thru software on the Turbo, so, possibly, the game could end up looking better in some aspects of the game when ported!

Bad? I voted for it!
