Title: Custom TurboStick (zebra)
Post by: m1savage on June 26, 2009, 05:08:06 PM
Thought I'd try putting together a couple of TG16 joysticks using Japanese parts this time. This one was put together using stuff that was laying around the house other than the stick itself which had to be ordered. The case is painted 3/4 inch mdf and the stick and buttons are Seimitsu (LS32-01). The wiring is sloppy mainly because I may pull the guts out of this at a later time. The ghetto looking switches on top are the turbo switches.

Due to some health problems, it's much easier for me to use a joystick for shooting games and so far I'm really happy with the Seimitsu.

The other stick has a more compact case, better turbo switch placement and a heck of a lot better picture on the top. Can't post pics of it yet because it may become a gift.

I am so envious it is making me sick.
The TG/PCE has some ok sticks, but there is
no way they could come close to a nice heavy
MDF box with arcade controls in it.

That is ace work M1. The large toggles are bold,
but compliment an arcade style stick. Definitely not ghetto.

I don't know, the XE-1 stick is pretty damn nice when it comes to Turbo sticks. It's got a nice weight to it, is super-configurable, plus it has a TurboTap built into the side of it. The biggest complaint I've got about it, is that it's only two-button and offers no 6-button mode.

Uh-oh; I have stick envy.

That sounds bad, but you've a nice looking stick there.  Not that there's anything wrong with 'em, but why the zebra stripes?

Its a pimp stick.

MAN.  I kinda want one.  I dunno what I like more.  The zebra stripes, or the extremely meticulous and well done innards.

Make me one pleeeease

The stick rocks, period. But the best part, the best part.... well, that's gotta be the TurboSwitches! I love them. How do they work? Do you have to toggle each switch back and forth (two positions), so that only one switch can be left in the "on" position?

The only way you could make it better is if you were to add fiber optic light display (like the xmas trees)...

Thanks for the kind words guys. The stick has seen a lot of use the past few days.

Wanted something other than the typical anime picture on this stick and the zebra idea came up. Guess it's ok. Didn't have triple throw switches here so had to use two doubles instead. There's a pair of switches for both buttons I and II. Both switches down - turbo off. Left switch in up postition - medium turbo. Both switches up - high turbo. Nothing fancy but they work. Plus, I just like flipping toggle switches.  :D

The ghetto looking switches on top are the turbo switches.

The switches were the first thing that caught my eyes. Makes me think I'm in an old car.

This is great! keep up the good work!

Yeah, this one is a four button stick but it is handy being able to place them where you want for different games. The other stick I'm in the process of building had a design change yesterday (too much thinking heh) so it's back under construction. By the way, if anyone here has any cool Turbo related picture ideas for the top (approx. 8"x10") I'd like to hear/see them. No zebra print on this one.  :)

How 'bout painting the top to look like a SuperGrafx?  It'd be like your very own version of the PowerConsole.  8)

I think that is exceptional. Craftsmanship par excellence.
