What game from 1992 deserves the most derision? let's find out!
-
It's a hard choice so I'll have to ponder it for some time. But Falcon and Gunboat are surely up there with a chance.
-
I flipped a coin to pick Falcon over Gunboat, as I could've gone either way. I won't try to convince anyone that Darkwing Duck, Ghost Manor, and Night Creatures are good, but I know I'd rather play 'em than either of the simulator crap piles.
-
This one was rough- my instinct was to pick Falcon- but the truth is I never played it so I had to go with what I know and pick Night Creatures- though Shockman is another suckfest that could've been great but plays like garbage.
-
Falcon. It's not even a contest. Gunboat at least can be fun.
-
I always assumed I was the only person in the world who has had fun playing gunboat. 8-[

shockman in US is shubibinman II in J, right? that wasn't bad. in fact it's really cool.
I've also never played falcon, unless on emulator. and yes, I would go with that.
-
Falcon.
Gunboat is more of a game, has several screens of graphics before jumping into the polygon-fest and it's easier to quickly get a good look at some polygons.
-
world sports competition is an a$$hole.
that game is just.

Yes.
-
Falcon, clearly ^^

1992, IMHO, was a pretty good year. I can't vote for any of these, since all the ones I've played on the list are good.

No way, the game can actually be pretty fun once you get down the counterintuitive controls and get over the obnoxious screams. Really, the screams are the worst part.
-
Falcon, no question.
-
World Sports Competition. The hockey game was more fun.
-
falcon was pretty crappy, but yeah for the most part this list consists of mostly strong titles!
Air Zonk, Order of the Griffon and Shockman being my favorites.

It's a 'worst game' poll, so it doesn't matter if they're all awesome - just vote for the least awesome title. :)
-
I think Falcon wins the Prize. Such a bland gaming experience. NEC must have been desperate to allow that game to become a 3rd party title
-
The big shocker to me in this poll is that most of you even played Falcon to begin with... It could be floating in front of my eyes loose and ready to go with a "play me" ribbon on it and I'd still have zero desire to test it out.

I rented it back in the day because I rented every Turbo game available. But in recent years, the novelty of witnessing real-time polygons rendered by the TG-16 lures me into firing it up every so often. I was recently reminded that it supports head to head play on the Express, so I'll be buying another copy and "playing" it again soon. :P
-
ive always had some kind of love for retarded console flight sims, so I like falcon...
-
I think you are in the majority, Sinistron. Falcon never seemed particularly enticing. Gunboat was more seductive, and by seductive I mean "barely interested". Of course, some folks have said that Gunboat is actually kinda neat, so maybe I'll play it some more. One of these years.

I've been meaning to do this as well, except that I don't have the motivation to get another copy of Falcon. I suppose a loose HuCard wouldn't be too much, would it? Do you know what a fair price is?
Next, of course, will be the hardest obstacle: find another soul willing to play Falcon.

but I can't be in the majority if Falcon has twelve votes here- you see my point? My point was that it looked so godawful that I had zero desire to ever play it- so I can't possibly say that the worst game of the year was one that I never played- have to stick with what I know. Since Falcon got 12 votes here (with the two closest coming in at 2 apiece)- that means that the majority here at least found this game to look promising enough to actually try- either that or they're just guessing it's horrid- a safe guess I'm sure- but I'm willing to bet that at least 8 of the 12 people that voted for it tried it.

Hey, I just voted and made it 13!
We are desperados, that's all. Falcon appeals to .0001% of the PCE community :)
I think the whole "flight sim" genre is a niche audience for console gamers, as opposed to computer gamers (back in the day) who seemed to love flight sims. I knew a bunch of folks (they always seemed to be someone's dad!) that really liked flight sims. Even my father-in-law was into them. He read these crazy-long manuals, prior to playing, just to learn how things worked. Now, Falcon is not nearly as complicated as this, but it certainly didn't have all the dazzle and sparkle of an arcade game like AfterBurner, and that's what we wanted back then.
I here what you're saying, Sinistron, but this is certainly an unusual audience here at pcefx. We are desperados who have tried many TG-16 titles that the average person wouldn't have bothered with (because they wisely chose to play a good game, elsewhere. Like MicroMachines on NES. We played that well into the 16-bit era because it was so awesome. Alas, we didn't have time for Falcon back then.)
These days, being a desperado for all things PCE, I find myself playing TV Sports: Badminton just to see if there is an ounce of enjoyment that can be derived from it.
*By the way, I think a Badminton game could actually be friggin' awesome. I never looked to see if any exist, but it is would rule.

im part of the .00001 that likes Falcon, eh?
I also love battle ace.

Awesomeness. :)
Battle Ace seemed more of an arcade-type of game than Falcon, IIRC.
Most importantly, "Battle Ace" sounds a bit better than "Falcon", despite the fact that falcons are very kool animals.
Kool animal names do not always translate well... F-16 sounds kooler to me than Eagle, for example. Although, now that I think about it, Wombat and Vulture would be pretty kool names for military vehicles. Hmmmmmmm......
-
yeah battle ace has a neat fast paced feel to it. I like it. Its like top gun minus the suck

Fixed.
-
lol i love those scenes. I always do em! Ive always been good at them ever since I was 4 or so.
For some reason, I played Top Gun constantly on my NES.
and I play afterburner alot on my sms.
I have some obsession with goofy arcade flight sims! >_O
remember dragon strike? :)
-
I played waaaaaaaaayyy too much X-wing to hate flight sims.
-
I cant believe someone votes soldier blade.. I consider that one of the best shmups I ever played.

There is always someone who does that. Look at the two votes Samurai Ghost has!
Oh, wait, not everyone loves Samurai Ghost :(
-
Falcon is one of the worst console games I have ever played on any system. I tried it for almost 2 hours before I put it down forever... Glad I got this game as an adult and not a kid when it was a few games a year!
Too bad this isn't the best game category. Time Cruise is the best TG16 game, and it makes me happy just to see it on a list, with 0 votes! Yay, people love it.

 yeas.. me the like :)
but hella yeas. "worsting" soldier blade is blasphemie pure and can be only voted by some internet trolls.
